Re: April 29 Heartland Park Touring laps

It's doubtful that I'll make it to this one as the 29th is my last day of classes before finals start the following week. That, and my tires are damn near bald and I don't really have the time or, more importantly, the money to get them replaced until sometime in May.

Re: April 1 HPT Touring Laps season opener!

I'm at school from 12:30 until 7:20 every Wednesday this semester, so the earliest track day I would be able to do is May 13th, which is the week after finals.

Of course this is a self inflicted wound. We went to the Jeep dealership after lunch on Saturday, I backed into a light pole! If it makes you feel any better, that's exactly how I got the scrapes on my back bumper. I was at a Honda dealer, however. I lucked out, if you can call it that, in that I h...

Where's our Canadian Cory? (he can still join us even though he's probably now driving an Mazdaspeed 3...) I'm still driving my MINI and browsing the forums. I keep finding cars I like but I'm just unable to pull the trigger. I guess I still like my MINI that much. Plus, during the cooler/colder mo...

Now it's time for them to step up and give us a law against using cell phones while driving! Don D Cell phones are really not the root of the issue here, but people can't seem to understand that. The problem is people in this country are not prepared to drive when they are given their license. This...

on a two lane road? this is impossible...and potentially dangerous. getting passed on the right by a car is bad enough. If the people being passed on the right weren't in the left lane, then there wouldn't be a problem. If there is room to go around someone on the right, then there is room for that...

Yes, I'm still lurking, but not really finding much about which to post. I had a fairly busy summer, as I worked full-time and took a summer class. Unfortunately, my fall is going to be even busier. I'd love to go to HPT for one last run this year, but I'm terribly busy on Wednesdays, having work fr...

I finally got around to editing my videos from the track. I'm trying Yahoo video this time. It seems like the quality is just as good as Youtube, and it actually allows me to upload videos that are longer than 10 minutes.

While the short circuit might not be as exciting as the longer circuit, I wouldn't exactly call it boring. :) We are driving MINIs around a track, after all.

It's not so much the size, which I believe they limit to 1GB, that is the problem, but the 10 minute length limit.

This was the best track day I've ever had. Being in the intermediate group was really great. As you can see from the following video, I had a clear track for almost the entire time I was out there. Granted, most of this was due to the fact that almost every car out there had two or three times the p...

I'm meeting a friend for lunch, so I won't be able to do lunch with you guys. I'll swing by Arthur Bryant's after lunch, to caravan up with you, if you're still there. Otherwise, I'll see you at the track.

I'd really like to get something rear-wheel drive, so I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Honda S2000, Mazda MX5 and Mazda RX8. Of course, if I can find a great deal on a low-mileage Cooper S, then I could possibly go with that.

Cory, if you become a Mazdaspeed guy, I hope you're still planning to join us! Looking forward to another season out there. Regardless of what car I purchase, I'll be doing the track days this summer. After the two I attended last year, I don't think I could give that up. I'm not sure if I'll be ab...

I'm not terribly certain, but I thought Solid Gold was a Cooper only color. Either way, I didn't get a good look at the interior. I was thinking about putting a club card on the windshield, but since I'm sure it was driven by a guest/customer of the company, I figured management would frown upon me ...

To do the whole route, around an hour, depending on how quickly you drive and how much traffic you encounter. If you don't have that much time, you could consider doing smaller sections of it, such as the Lee's Summit Rd area one day, and maybe the Woodson/Little Blue area another.
