Re: Who's really rich and drive's a mini cooper????

Penn Jillette has multiple MINIs. http://www.motortrend.com/features/cons ... to_04.html
Dale Earnhart JR had an R53 that had a ton of speed mods (shock there).
Madonna has or had a MINI that was mentioned in one of her songs and starred in the video.

Re: Garage Day, Saturday July 31st 9 a.m.

When we were changing your belt, I noticed that you did not have a splash shield. You need that to help keeping water from splashing on your alternator belt area. Just a thought.... Really? There is a splash shield? I wonder if KC Autosport forgot to put it back on when they did it, or if we did wh...

Re: A/C Dead

Anyone have their a/c stop producing cold air? Everything seems in order with mine but the compressor clutch is not engaging/disengaging like it's supposed to. Suggestions and/or what was your fix? Other than $1,500 for a new compressor at Baron. :( I've had that happen, twice as of yesterday in fa...

Re: My 2003 MINI

That's what it costs to replace the part that the oil cannister screws onto when its breaks when you DIY. Sometimes expensive things happen to good people.... It was actually the filter housing, there is a plastic valve in it, and I broke it. It's above my skill level to repair, so part plus labor ...

Re: My 2003 MINI

Just wanted to compare to my list on my 03, though I'm at almost double your miles at 135k. I'm on my 3rd or 4th power steering pump. The problem is the cooling unit, if it gets to hot it cuts out. I'm on my 3rd radiator. I had the #4 cylinder go and had a heliocoil installed. My belt tensioner has ...

Re: Garage Day, Saturday July 31st 9 a.m.

Does your new belt squeal or can you tell a difference from your old one? No squeal, but I only really had an issue in the wet, so I'm not 100% sure the issue is fixed yet. However, someone riding with me noticed that my supercharger whine was *significantly* more noticeable then it was pre-belt ch...

Many many thanks to the folks that helped me with my spark plug 'issues,' especially Don who finally was able to get it all fixed. I'd probably have had to move in with John and Johnna if he hadn't done it... well, my car might still be there anyway...

Re: Garage Day, Saturday July 31st 9 a.m.

Dave - I meant to ask about your code reader for exactly that reason. KC Autoport didn't tell me they found any codes, and I assumed that they would have run theirs on it when they were checking it out for me. One of the few upgrades I did to the car since I got it was a hotter coil and wires, so th...

Re: Name that Movie!

Argh! I had to look it up, so I won't answer, only because I couldn't think of the movie. I could see the actor (Ok, when I read the quote, I heard it in his voice in my head) and the scene, but couldn't remember where it was from. My fav scene in that movie, mostly because I often think the same wa...

Wheee! I haven't fallen off the planet! I'm still here, and still actually have my MINI! And I'm going to be there! Ok, so I have a list of things I think I should or would like to do, and I figured I'd bring them up because I don't want to over capitalize everyone's time, or else I'm not sure...

They also come in black. http://www.blueminicooper.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/chakik_newShoes.jpg That is perfect, IMHO. Flat black with blue is my choice, if/when I do it again. Man I love that car. I had some ROTA Curcuit 8s on mine for a while, but they were bronze-ish and on my pure silver/...

Wave when you bring the Mini through Bethany. I know there is a Checkmate JCW there. And I'm up there occasionally, my parents live in the dome there.

Re: Supercharger belt replacement

Good news! Storm windows gone to Habitat for Humanity. Others are getting lots of craigslist responses and are sitting outside. That makes plenty of room in the garage for working on my car out of the snow! Thanks everyone for helping, I'll try to arrange some pizza or something once we're all here....

Re: Supercharger belt replacement

The plan is for some of the windows go to Habitat tomorrow, actually, but they've already told me that they wont' take them all. The rest go on craigslist for free-free-free tomorrow. Ideally that'll take care of it. Anyone, for those brave folks willing to help me in the cold, it's 8710 Kentucky AV...

Re: Supercharger belt replacement

Ah, but the issue is that the car is immoble and at my house. Short of a tow, I don't have any way to move it from where it is anywhere. If I don't get enough room created in the garage to work on it tomorrow, then I'll have to push it into the driveway to work on it...

Re: Countryman Announced

Count me in the 'no' category as well. If I want an SUV, that's what I'll buy, and this thing may be a 'big' MINI, but it's still not a big vehicle, and I don't need and SUV anyway. For that kind of money and 4 doors and all wheel drive, I start at Audi A4s and probably don't go any farther. MINIs a...

Ah ha! Alta website has the belt info. For my Alta 15% pulley and stock crank pulley, looks like I need NAPA Belt 060539. That's at least some good news. I think you need the NAPA Belt # 060535. Thats the # I installed on my MINI with a 15% pulley. Do a search on NAM for the correct belt # and it s...

I'll endeavor to have some KK. I can hardly argue with that. I also do not have a battery charger, so if you could bring yours Dave, that would be wonderful. I will also work hard to make enough room in my garage to work, but it's very narrow and that would be difficult. I've got enough level-ish su...

Re: Supercharger belt replacement

Well, Dave, keep me updated. I'd like to schedule the repair next Sat, but obviously that's dependent on the availability of folks to help me, and the tool to arrive. Sunday is my daughter's birthday, so I can't do it then, and so it's Sat or we wait a week. Also, it looks as if we'll have to do it ...
