Re: DTC Codes
Follow up on the DTC Codes saga. Fuse blew again within one day of trip to Baron! Now had figure out what was blowing the 15 amp engine control fuse under the bonnet. Remember DTC codes indicated 5 different faults. Using a Bentley manual and many fuses and a full nights sleep and studying electrica...

Re: DTC Codes
Yup. Baron has a used 2012 Justa in Laguna Green (close to Silk Green) with automatic transmission with 40k miles for $15,000. A lot more than $1,500.

Re: DTC Codes
Cam sensor is $40 at online discount parts stores and could probably be replaced in the driveway. SES light is already back on for cam sensor fault. Hopefully, fuse is not blown again. Will check codes again tonight.
A/C is another issue altogether. $1,500 parts and labor at Baron.

Re: DTC Codes
Baron found a blown fuse in the under bonnet fuse box that cleared the O2 sensor codes but they think it still needs a new camshaft position sensor. They also think it will need a new a/c compressor. Very pleased that they diagnosed and cleared codes for no charge. Now I have decisions to make on wh...

Re: DTC Codes
Thanks, MiniDave. Just replaced both O2 Sensors with OEM sensors a couple of months ago after going 200k+ miles on the original sensors.
Replacing camshaft position sensor requires removing engine mounting bolts to get to it according to Bentley manual.

DTC Codes
For you MINI mechanics out there, any ideas for things to check before taking my '03 Justa w/CVT to Baron for the following symptoms and DTC Codes? 1) Difficulty starting (used to start immediately but now takes several seconds to fire) 2) No A/C (clutch not engaging) Codes: P0445 Evaporative Emmiss...

My MINI is 11 years old with 206,000 miles on it. Does it qualify as a classic?

Yes, Keith, not many silk green MINIs around. Another one just moved into Kearney, MO a couple of months ago. Ran into them at Wendy's.

Re: Question
I've never seen an orange one of those either......not saying they don't make 'em, just that I've never seen one in more than 45 years of working on cars - maybe an aftermarket part from one of the specialty exhaust makers? I have orange/red rubber exhaust hangers on my Justa (not aftermarket). :D

My Justa has quit a few dents. However, I'm not sure I would pay to have them fixed now that I have 204k miles on it!

Spotted in Liberty, MO
Yesterday, I pulled up next to a Silk Green MINI Justa-Cooper at the Wendy's next to my office. First time in years that I had seen another silk green Cooper (only produced from 2002 thru part of 2003). They had just moved to Kearney, MO a couple of months ago. Their MINI was purchased in Chicago an...

200k Miles
I went over 200k miles at 70 mph last Friday on my way to Minneapolis and back in one day, 15 hours of driving! Anyone else over 200k miles on their beloved MINI?

Re: 2003 MC door lock problem
If it was me, I would take it to the dealer or your favorite mechanic who knows MINI's. Other club members more mechnically inclined might help you with a DIY. See my edit about relays in my previuos post.

Re: 2003 MC door lock problem
Might be a bad central locking system relay (a relay is like a super-duper fuse I think) located behind the side kick panel in front of the passenger seat. Bentley manual says that all your combined locking problems can be caused by this.

Re: Wheel Bearing
Front wheel bearing hubs replaced today. No more loud humming sound at speed from the driver's side front wheel. After inspection of old bearings, one was very loose and one was very tight. Not sure which was the culprit but glad to have them both replaced.
