Re: Newbie with a dumb question
Thanks Tom! Follow up question. When you say "stay with the correct size and profile the speedo will not be effected enough to notice changing wheel size" I get a little confused. Please define the first reference to size. Or, maybe the better way to ask the question is can you dumb it do...

Re: Mini Countryman Review in London Telegraph
I do not agree that diesel is the way forward. Despite all their best efforts, those things still stink when you get behind one - they make me nauseous in fact - so my first response is to pass them as quickly as possible - in my Clubman S! Dave, I have to say I disagree. With the new diesel after-...

Re: Newbie with a dumb question
Welcome! As for the wheels, as long as you stay with the correct size and profile the speedo will not be effected enough to notice changing wheel size. I may be interested in your old wheels if you find new ones. On NAM you will find all the different tire and wheel combinations you can think of as ...

Advance Auto Parts carries batteries for MINIs. Just call a store near you to get one ordered in same day order during the week or next day order on the weekend.

wow another MINI wedding! Congratulations Stephanie! As much as I would love to attend, I will be in Pittsburg for the first weekend. Homecoming. I have been asked to stay the weekend by a number of friends and so that is where I will be. I am all about working on MINIs on Fridays. That is the day I...

Re: Power Steering Pump teardown
Dave, you had the motor apart to look at it. In your professional opinion, do you think it would be worth it to take those motors apart at regular intervals to clean and inspect them? I know that is supposed to be a thing of the past. R&R seems to be the new thing. Don't maintain, just replace. ...

Re: SAAB to Utilize MINI engines & platform
I blew up a brand new SAAB 9-3 Aero at one of GMs Auto Shows in Motion. It had 22 miles on it and the engine blew up. Big cloud of white smoke and all. Kinda sad really. I was haulin booty around their track they set up, engine pulling nicely then poof! Big cloud of white smoke and silence. Didn't t...

wow silly news writers. R50, R52, R53 model MINIs don't have EPS. They have electro-hydraulic assist. I love how they exagerate the MINI steering failures (80,000) then compair it to the triple digit hyundai numbers and then play off the over 1 MILLION GM vehicles! I would like to know what happened...

Once that is fixed youll notice very quickly that the small problems these cars have are eclipsed by ...

very much the safest at night. Most people will be lit and are able to be seen around the blind curves leaving only animals left to worry about. Not to mention there are much fewer people out the later you go out. I know that stretch of road like the paint on the MINI. Every crack and repair and une...

Re: 92 Octane Where Can I Find IT???
Typically all fuel at the pumps has up to 10% ethanol in the fuel. The mandate for signs stating that fuel has ethanol in it was dropped a few years back. No typical fuel has 10% ethanol or so unless otherwise stated. The ethanol is cheaper than the gasoline so most oil companies use as much as they...

Ok you convinced me. I need to attend one of these track days. Kinda disappointed with the camera shots. Either they need to increase their shutter speed or get a tripod... More than half the pictures are blurry.
Looks absolutely awesome though! I cant wait to see those videos!

ragtopday, I believe it is you who enjoys hunting for small donut shops. While in Detroit, MI this summer I came across a small donut shop in Allen Park east of Pelham Rd. on Ecorse Rd. called the Tasty-Cream Donut Company. If you search "Tasty-Creme Donut Co, Allen Park, MI" on google map...

Re: Engine Build Ideas. Please Discuss
Punk, that is not far off of N/A cars running safe. Typically I have shot for 12.2:1 as the magic number for N/A. I would like to be able to hit 12:1 on a boosted car. I do know that at cruise, AFRs can safely get into the 30:1 range with direct injection. I have found even as high as 60:1 on the be...

Re: Engine Build Ideas. Please Discuss
Punk, may I ask what the new engine is running at for fuel ratio? I have done some tuning on N/A cars and would be curious just how much different it is. As you were saying with the IATs, I figured the IATs in the MINI were high due to the roots type supercharger. That is part of the reason I would ...

Re: Inside Blower Fan Replacement
From what the online manual shows, the whole dash should not need to be removed. It seems to be right behind the airbag on the passenger side. I would imagine if you were to open the glove box and pull it down, you should be able to see the housing. I think the reason why they say to pull the dash i...

Re: Engine Build Ideas. Please Discuss
I have thought about building a turbo manifold and putting a small twin scroll ball bearing turbo on that will make about 15-17lbs of boost efficiently. With the parasitic loss lessened, I should gain some good power and efficiency. I want to find a way to lessen the amount of fuel required upon nor...

I have heard of tailgate hinge issues and only seen slight bubbling but nothing that couldn't be easilly fixed. I do have to say though minis are far better than most asian cars.
