Re: Oil Change

I'm sure we'll have a garage day in the spring if not before then. I am in need of the same service and will be doing it then hopefully.

Re: H/K amplifier

I only checked one place and that was Independence Audio. They told me $300 but kinda made it sound like it might take longer, making it more expensive because it's a MINI. That is also with me buying all components from them which will also increase the price at least 25%. They did say they have do...

I had the same problem. I replaced the whole system and added more for about half that price. Take a look at my post here viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2598

Re: Oil Change

I probably should learn to do it myself. Looks a little intimidating under the bonnet. :? Is there any way to reset the counter without special equipment? Once you've worked on it a few times it's not so intimidating. I'm willing to help you learn when and if you want to. I'll be changing mine this...

Re: new noises (r53)

That would be no good but for some reason I doubt that's the problem. I didn't think that was that big of a problem on these cars.
I work in olathe, if you want me to have a listen i'd be glad to, just let me know. If we can't figure it out atleast we could stare at eachother's MINIs

Re: MINI Newb

I just replaced my Inner and outer tie rod assemblies a few thousand miles ago. I was also replacing ball joints so I had the entire control arm out which made it easier but I don't think it would be too hard even with the control arms in. You'll want to pick up some new clamps or zip ties for the b...

Re: New Stereo System Install pics:) with rust:(

I installed the Kenwood x995. I went with it because I originally didn't want to change the factory look too much and it has several different colors to choose from to match the dash lights. It also has usb, ipod, hd radio and my favorite the hands free kit with external mic. I'm not sure how i live...

New Stereo System Install pics:) with rust:(

When my H/K amp bit the dust I didn't have the funds to fix/replace it right away so I was without a stereo for about a year. This was torture so I started saving for a replacement. I thought about having Independence Audio do the install but they said since it's a MINI they would have to charge mor...

Re: new noises (r53)

I can't really hear anything in your video but I had a noise not long ago it was coming from the left side of the engine and tried a few things before I took it to baron and they said it was the belt tensioner. It was only noticeable at idle sounded like "whish whish whish whish". Take a l...

Re: Brake pad replacement

Sounds to me like the problem isn't getting the piston back in but getting the old pads out of the caliper or loose enough to slide off. The rotor probably is worn enough to have a ridge on the outside of it preventing the pads from sliding off. If this is the case then make sure the caliper bolts a...

I'm due for an oil change just haven't got around to it. I should be free all week but not this weekend. Let me know what works for you and we can get together. I would get a new drain plug. RealOEM shows it costing $3.68

Re: Getting the Jag Fired up Again!

I have never used it on the road just offroad trails.

For lens protection I have a wide angle lens screwed on that I got for a few bucks. I wouldn't use such a nice camera if I was going to be doing anything really crazy.

When I changed my plugs and wires I noticed the corrosion as well. Not only on the coil end but also the spark plug end. Some dielectric grease should help keep them a bit cleaner.

Change of plans, I won't be able to make it this weekend. I can help bradg33 on Oct 1st though, hopefully not but maybe there will be some work that doesn't get done this weekend and can be finished the next.

I will bring 2 jack stands, a jack and my tool set.
We should be able to replace that O2 sensor, especially with the Bentley manual. Don't take my word for it though, I haven't ever done it.

Mountain Biking in KC

Does anybody else hit up the local mountain bike trails? I have been going to Landahl park every Tuesday and Thursday, unfortunately I'm usually by myself because my friends/coworkers usually bail. If anybody wants to join let me know. I"m up for going to any of the local trails. mini bike.jpg

Re: Interest in a Garage Day (any potential garage donors?)

I didn't know I could put used struts on or where I would get them? Any direction to keep cost low as possible. Kenny at German Imports NKC told me on phone that my rubbing noise or feeling of drag from back left was that strut and I would have to do both. I said a later date. He hadn't written it ...

Re: H/K Stereo problems

I am actually putting in a whole new system. All the components are costing around $700 but it should sound amazing and that's still cheaper than an amp from Baron. A year is way too long without tunes especially when I spend at least an hour and half in my car every day.

Re: Interest in a Garage Day (any potential garage donors?)

I'll be there, wherever there is. The only garage I have been to on a garage day is MiniDave's. If he isn't available then I will donate my garage but the only problem is I'm a little farther drive for most people, i'm in Greenwood just south of Lee's Summit on 150 hwy. What kind of reinforcement pl...
