Re: April Garage Day
MiniDave, I'l PM you about picking up tools on Friday if that works for you. Everyone is welcome to join. PM me for address and directions. I can promise donuts but I'm not the most experienced with car repair and I don't have every tool known to man (so bring your own if you have them). I'm thinki...

Re: R56S EGT Concern
So, took some logs on the way home. Managed to get the EGTs up to about 1550 with the Stage 0 tune (not exactly stock, but righer AFRs and stock boost levels). Max boost was 12.8. Also looked back at some logs taken back in Feb with similar ambient temps (intake temps 60-80 degrees F). Highest EGT I...

I might try to join you all again for a bit. I have a recirc valve that is chirping. Wanted to see what you all think. I may do plugs sometime soon as well

Re: R56S EGT Concern
Back to stock today. Was able to get my Echo Golf Tangos up to high 1400s but not over 1500. Was going to wail on it on the way home tonight to see if I can get them higher.
Anyone have a spare catless DP laying around I could use for some trials?

My comment would be to keep (or add) the club website to the winning design.

Re: autocross 4/6/14
No problem! I was curious to see your car and the setup out there. Last time I was at an autocross event was about 12 years ago at Arrowhead. The number of cars seemed to be many more from what I remember and I like the layout used. Less options for spectators, but more room to run the cars.

R56S EGT Concern
Been watching my EGTs some on my 2010 with my Alta AP stage 1 map. Timing looks great (smoothly advances through the gear with no drops). AFR looks good (nice and rich). Boost can get as high as 19.1 psi when conditions are right (maybe higher as it warms up). What concerns me is EGT. I had previous...

Anyone going out to the SCCA event tomorrow? I may be going out to spectate and get a feel for the place. Still need to dig out my helmet and read the rules prior to trying my hand!

Re: Project OVRKLL
up to 1500? Im getting up to 1560+ under 17-91 psi.
For oil temps, I don't have a way to measure unfortunately. I don't believe I can see that through my OBDII reader or the AP.

Re: Project OVRKLL
John, I know you mentioned EGTs before. What is it you are looking for as far as numbers go? I have been running the AP Stage 1 91 Octane and using 93 Octane (with ETOH). I see timing go up to around 4.5 degrees at the top of the gear and I have seen as high as 19.1 psi. Highest I saw stock was 13.9...

Re: Project OVRKLL
John,
How do you like the BSH engine mount? Is that just the lower mount?
I ordered the NM Eng inserts to try out. I have the BMS clutch stop and I like the throw, but the engagement is still too ambiguous. Hopefully the inserts or something like the BSH mount can improve the feel.

Re: F56 now at Baron
Do we need a club day to go thrash on the new F56?
Those pics actually look pretty good. I am not against the new style. I do want to see the interior and the new BMW Double-Twin-Dragon-Dungeon-Master-Turbo Powerplant.

Re: F56 now at Baron
So much longer and uglier nose. Getting further and further away from the classic Mini. Dislike! :( :( :( That's due to European pedestrian crash requirements. They keep requiring more crumple area and taller bonnets. It's only a matter of time before there are external airbags on the front. I beli...

Quick check to rule out tire wear is a rotation. Can do it in a few minutes for free to rule it out.

When I put a bigger turbo on my talon, my intake setup didn't fit. I put a piece of T-shirt on the intake and went for a spin!

Re: Carboned Up Intake Valves
I haven't looked yet, but I think harbor freight has little borescopes for under $100. If you host a valve blasting day, I'd look at donating one to the club.

Re: Carboned Up Intake Valves
Looks good now! The before didn't look too bad either. I've seen some really nasty pics before where you scratched your head and said...where's the valve in that charcoal briquette? Mine had it done at 38k or so by the previous owner. I think plugs are next for me and a torque arm insert. I've been ...

The risk of consequences is much higher though. I will admit I am a scaredy cat there. If I came out, I would not push it - at least not the first lap!
First I need to see if my helmet is still valid. May be out of date.

Gah! It falls on a weekend, where I am out on travel the week before and have to fly back out on Sunday the 13th to CA. My wife may kill me if I leave her and the kiddos on Sat as well. Potentially, though, the travel could get wiped out. I waiting to see if I get an interview for a new position at ...

Re: Knock sensor on R56S
I've never come across that data myself. You might be able to find out the sensor make and find the specs online. I've tried to see the knock sensors via OBDII and haven't had any luck. The AP has been the only device that's shown it. During hot autocrosses I've seen a few Mini's throw the super-kn...
