Re: Knock sensor on R56S

I've never come across that data myself. You might be able to find out the sensor make and find the specs online. I've tried to see the knock sensors via OBDII and haven't had any luck. The AP has been the only device that's shown it. During hot autocrosses I've seen a few Mini's throw the super-kn...

Knock sensor on R56S

Anyone knowledgeable on what to watch for on a remapped R56S (N14)? Logging with the AP...AFR looks good, nice and rich. Timing looks good, progresses upwards as RPM increases. What I am trying to sort out now is Cyl Knock V (V). Looks like we have multiple knock sensors and they each have a voltage...

I'll put me down as a maybe at this point. I might be out of town as the kids have Spring Break that week and we are tentatively planning a family trip. :D

Re: Project OVRKLL

Actually with the e-diff the torque steer isn't as bad as it was in my brother's MazdaSpeed 3. That thing would try to take your arms off. But he did have a E85 tune making 400tq. If we want to do a dyno day I suggest we do RevLine Motors. Nice group of guys. They are used to FWD cars vs MC Racing ...

Re: MINI going to Baron tomorrow

From what I found, the newer intake came out in Spring of 2010. My car is a 11/09 build, but it appears they never put the new intakes on in Oxford. It alters the PCV hose to a multi-port line that goes into the intake runners instead of dumping just before the throttle body (I believe this is right...

Re: Project OVRKLL

John, have you done any baseline dyno runs? Yes, I've done a base line dyno at 1400miles (Dyno0), then with Stage 3 AP (Dyno1), and then with my Jan/RMW tune(Dyno2). http://www.mobilezamboni.com/images/Dyno0.jpg http://www.mobilezamboni.com/images/Dyno1.jpg http://www.mobilezamboni.com/images/Dyno2...

Re: MINI going to Baron tomorrow

Yeah, I can't complain about some of the other work they have done under warranty. In this one, I probably hurt my case by clearing the codes the previous time. Oh well, only happened a couple of times this winter. Not a huge deal as I know how to sort it out.

Re: MINI going to Baron tomorrow

Cleaned it out all out. Said there was moisture in the throttle body which I have a hard time believing after a 35 min drive at 225F engine temps. No luck on the new manifold. Maybe I didn't insist enough. Going to look and see which one I have but it is too dark out now :)

MINI going to Baron tomorrow

Getting the P1637/P1638 codes as well as a min/max/improbable TPS error codes. I'm guessing an updated intake mani is in order, but we shall see. I haven't looked carefully enough to see if I have the old design, but I believe so as this has happened a couple of times this winter. Still have 1.5 mon...

Re: Project OVRKLL

Aye, I redacted my previous comments for that reason. Let's focus on the awesomeness of this build that you have planned!

For EGTs, is there a target you are trying to keep under? ARe you using it as an indication of knock (jumping EGTs can indicate pulled timing)?

I have been happy with Way. They promptly call back or email to answer any questions. Outmotoring...not so much. I've placed 3 orders and had 3 issues (including shipping my order to someone else! ). I do have 3 free outmotoring TShirts now though :D Also have not had much luck with Detroit T...

Very cool! I'll be keeping an eye on here. For what you do as well as the parts you are selling :D

Every time a package shows up at the house I tell my wife it's 'more probably not stolen car parts'!

May ask you for a ride in the car later as well

Re: Favorite Model of MINI?

The only first gen, I have been in is a 02 R50 several years ago. I liked it then but it didn't have the power it needed. When I started looking for a new car to replace the tired, old cavalier we had, I was looking for a stick shift hot hatch. It just so happened that Carmax had several R56s in dif...

Re: When is the next garage day?

I bought the car from a Subaru dealer who claimed they used factory MINI pads/rotors. I'm kinda doubting they did. They are very noisy and have been since I got it. Well, you can go ahead and burn thru them then change them later, the goop may or may not cure the noise if they're made out of a pad ...

It has worked just fine for me the last few days! Lock the backs and drag them all over the parking lot with the fronts! I got some pretty nice drifts around our parking lot at work. Re: Getting new wheels this year

I personally like some additional tire. When I swap mine out, I will likely go with more sidewall to give me a little more gearing. Also, I spent to much time working on Troost and seeing too many Cadillacs with 24s and a pencil thin tire. Unless you are going with gold 150-spokes, keep some sidewall!

Re: When is the next garage day?

I think I can make a brake dust snowman on about any given day! In fact, my wheels appear to be more of a painted, gunmetal/volcanic ash color rather than bright silver due to the dust they make. :)
