Re: MINI 3 door Countryman

I think the Paceman could be a pretty cool car, actually. But first, let's consider the evolution of the MCS. I'm not that current on Gen 3 MCS development, but isn't it true that the Gen 3 is going to be several inches longer than the current R56? And aren't the contours flattening out and becoming...

Re: MINI Garage Day - Feb 11

I think at this point we were al talking about Dimini's shoes! The Dude has bad taste in shoes, seriously! But he knows a good cinnamon roll--and there were plenty on hand. Some folks attend these garage days to accomplish something practical, like getting new brakes installed--but for the weird fo...

Re: Sporting KC

Call me a simpleton, but I think their branding is a confusing hodgepodge. I like shield's graphics, but the lettering is confusing. You can barely see "Kansas City" and everytime I see the logo, I think Sporting South Carolina. Additionally, there's an pre-existing "club" in Kan...

I love just about all things MINI/mini, but I wonder how a sheet-metal sided clubby would compete in today's market with small vehicles like the Ford Transit Connect?

I have marked all on my calendar except for May. Hopefully I'll be able to attend the other 6. New brake pads, new tires and I'll be ready to go.

Yep, been there and done that. I think that procedure is one better-suited to a smaller crowd and few distractions.
Congrats!

Re: Brakes! Git'cher Brakes here!

Let's not forget the keg of hot coffee and donuts! Wow... I've never seen take-out coffee "kegs". NICE. Being the Event CDI (chief donut inspector) I can attest that the chocolate coated, cream-filled donuts were just shy of remarkable. In the grand scheme of things, this was a great garag...

Re: 100,000 mile club

Congrats everyone! Just today mine clocked in at 50K so I'm half way there. Hopefully the next 50K will be as wonderful. At my current rate, that's six more years for me--right on! Maybe by then, there will be something on the market that I like better.

Re: Mountain Biking in KC

I'm riding my mountain bike 2-4 times per week but not on a regular schedule. I'm located in Westport so any singletrack ride requires an hour roundtrip in the car. For time management, I usually ride urban with slick tires (not a fraction as fun as singletrack, though. When I have time for driving ...

Re: New Coupe at Baron

I hope to get a close look at these while in for servicing later this week. Based upon MINI's official photos, I'd say the coupe probably has pretty lousy sight lines with huge blind spots and impaired rear vision--Gawd how I hate current car design trends! I'm really looking forward to the auto ind...

Re: Mini Countryman

I have a Countryman in my garage. It replaced my wife's leased Saab and we absolutely love it. Our household needed a functional 4-passenger vehicle w/4 doors, comfortable rear seats, and AWD. Thank you, MINI, for inventing a car that both my wife and I can share with equal enthusiasm. We are now a ...

Re: Short shift kit

Yes, I have a Craven speed short shift in my "06 JCW S and I really like it. Is it better than OEM? No... but it's different. Nice thing about the Craven speed is that it's adjustable and can easily be adjusted back to OEM specs, even while driving. When it's set on short throw, height of the k...

Olpe or maybe Osceola. I'm not familiar with the roads near Olpe, but if you look 2 hours to the east, say Osceola, there are some pretty interesting roads in the Truman lake area.

Re: Mini Countryman Review in London Telegraph

I think both the review and the reader comments are pretty interesting. However, I'm not sure what point the author is making by mentioning the Issigonis-designed Moke-- which I would describe as a butt-ugly and badly failed attempt to compete with the Willy's Jeep as a practical military machine. N...

Yep, I've been driving mine alot this fall. Drove it everyday last week, but that's pretty much mid-town during the week. In mid-October, I drove it to Erwin, Tenn and joined about 75 other classics for a spirited 3 days of driving at the Mini 51 Event. It was a remarkable event which combines the u...
