I don't see any reason why we couldn't make one of those, if you got the dimensions, and the size and accurate spacing of the holes.

I do not think it is too difficult. Here is the link:

However, since this is from the KC club, I will end up borrowing the tool from them.

Does someone have the brake pressure bleeder out? I went to loan it to another club member and I don't seem to have it.

Please contact me if you have it so I can arrange to get it to the club member who needs it.

Edit: pressure bleeder has been located and will be back to me Friday evening!

Hello,

Does the club tool box have the 14mm 12pt socket for removing the spark plugs from newer MINI's? I have an 09
Cooper S.

Thanks!

I noticed that the club has a Bently Service manual for 1st generation minis; could you take speak at that and let me know if there is a section on cylinder head gasket replacement/removal. Thanks.

As you can guess I am not asking out of curiosity - yeap bad things on the '06 R53; since I've done some head swaps and gasket replacement before if I can find a little direction I think I can get the job done.

You're welcome to borrow the manual, I'm sure it will cover everthing you need to know to R&R the head. The only tricky part to me would be making sure you get the cam timed right again.

PM me for my phone number and address and you can pick it up pretty much any time.

HOw about a Garage?

I am lucky enough to live directly on a 30* decline street, with no driveway, or garage :( I have built two fully bagged S10's in front of my house, but definitely not my favorite thing to do.

And i believe I have a radiator leak/cap testing kit at the house that I can donate.

Derek, we do have wrenching parties at my shop from time to time, and you're always welcome to attend. We've done rear sway bars, struts, brakes, motor mounts and all sorts of repairs, the only thing we try to do is limit the work to stuff that can be done in one day, although one or two cars have run over an extra day.

There is also a DIY shop in Olathe that rents out lifts and shop space at a very reasonable rate, their rate includes the use of their tool sets as well. It's SO much easier to work on these cars on a lift, but my shop is small with limited headroom, so we use jacks and jackstands.

A radiator test kit would be a great addition to our tool set. As you can see from this thread the club has MINI specific tools available to loan anytime.

Awesome.

I will have to check out that DIY garage.

Yeah, main things I want to do are rear sway, torque mount bushing, shocks/etc sometime. And just to hang out!

Those are all jobs that can be done in my shop, our first shop day will probably be in April, and it's done strictly on a need to basis - IOW when someone needs to do something to their car! :D

Here's a link to the DIY site on Olathe, the fellow who owns it is named Dave (No, not me!) http://www.diyautorepairkc.com/

I did a weeks worth of work on a fellow MINI owner's car in Dave's shop this past Decmber and it was wonderful to be able to be on a lift and in a nice, well lit, warm shop!

New Tool!

I had never seen one of these before, but once I learned of them we had to have one!

Image

This bad boy only does one thing, it removes those PITA spring type hose clamps that all our MINIs (and many other Euro cars) use, and that can be so hard to reach with any "normal" tools!

This will make removing hose clamps a breeze, and save your finger tips in the process, not to mention cutting down on the blue words in the air!

Should be here in a week or so.

BTW, does someone have the Bentley manual? if so please let me know via PM and when it will be returned.

Update!

KSMiniman has donated two brand new (1 still in the wrapper!) Haynes manuals to the club, these cover all 1st and 2nd Gen MINIs, and while not quite as complete as the Bentley manual, they're great for general maintenance and repairs. Anyone who'd like to borrow one if for no other reason than to read up on your car, get ahold of me.

Thanks, Tom!

Dave, does that OBD tool have the ability to reset the airbag light?

I seriously doubt it, but you're welcome to try it.....it's a fairly low end version, it's really only for engine performance codes, but like I said - you're welcome to try it and see.

BMW's code is fairly complex and often they're the only ones who can read or reset it, although some of the newer (and expen$ive code tools will)
