Video Storage

Post by Minidave »

I used to upload all my videos (like my HPT vids) to Google, but today when I tried to I found that Google no longer uploads videos. One of the reasons I liked Google was it's simplicity and the fact that they didn't limit the size of your upload - although they compressed the crap out of it!

So, I could use You Tube, but they limit the length to 10 minutes.

Vimeo will allow free uploads, but only 500mb a week for free, more than that costs a monthly fee....

I hate the online photo storage places like Flikr and Photobucket, both for their ads and the restrictions they put on hotlinking to web sites.

So who do you use for free hosting of your vids? I'm looking for a new site so I can upload my HPT vids from yesterday.

Hmmm You Tube says the videos can be up to 15 minutes in length and up to 2gb in size...still might not be enough time for you though :(

Really? Used to be a 10 min limit. Guess that's where I'll put them tonight when I get home.

From my first post...

Vimeo will allow free uploads, but only 500mb a week for free, more than that costs a monthly fee....

I have a friend who posts his track vids on Vimeo and I'm always impressed with how clean and clear they are - they don't seem to compress them as heavily as You Tube and Google used to, but I'm cheap so I'm looking for the best free source I can find.

I need to look at my service provider - Road Runner - I wouldn't be surprised that I have the ability to host a bit on there for free too.
