August Cruise

Ok, I was thinking about what I wanted to plan for our August cruise and something popped into my head that I don't think the club has done before. What does everyone think about having a BBQ at like Shawnee Mission Park?

Everyone could bring something to share to eat. My only issue is I don't know how to grill stuff


What does everyone else think? Or should I look for a sonic or something to eat at?

I'm game. Used to do this with the Neon group. Its easier if someone volunteers to take care of primary meat source. Otherwise you end up due with just potato salad and chips! Also will need to reserve location with the park.

Weekend or weeknight?

It's going to be a weekend since I work nights during the week. I was looking at having it at Macken Park in North Kansas City since the shelter is cheaper than Shawnee Mission Park. I was going to bring hamburgers and hot dogs, also. Just need someone to cook them. LOL

I know how to char up some hot dogs and burgers, so if it isn't the week of Aug 13-17, I will help with the cooking.

How about we plan for the 25th of August. Thinking about 1 or 2 pm for the BBQ to have it kind of as a lunch.

Noy up for any heat! How about an alternate plan if still HOT? Like a Jason's Deli or a Culver's and we all know Frank likes Cick-fil-a.

I don't think Chik-fil-a is a good choice because they're always busy but I'll look into Jason's Deli or something like that.

Talking with a place right now to see if it's ok to have a large group come in. If they say yes the August event will be in Lawrence.

The August cruise will be at Queen Lizzy's Fish and Chip shop in Lawrence, KS on August 25th at 11:30am. I'll be talking to them about seeing if we can close off the street and park out front. If not, there's a parking garage around the corner that is free parking on the top level.

Also, I'm working on picking a route out to Lawrence if anyone wants to meet up (We might just take K-10 out there) and thinking about doing an after lunch run. I don't know very many roads around Lawrence though.

K-7 ( basically take 87th Street west of I-435 ) is a different route to Lawrence, mildly different. BMW Club did it a while back. After lunch a drive to Lake Perry has a few interesting roads.

I know Lawrence like the back of my hand. I could lead us around on some nice routes, good places for photos and some spirited driving as well.
