HPT Lunch Laps Oct 20 & 21

Post by IowaM1N1 »

For those who have always wanted to get some track time at Heartland Park in Topeka...

There is an open invitation for Heartland Park 'Lunch Laps' at Noon on both Saturday Oct 20 and Sunday Oct 21.

NASA Central Region is having their season-ending event that weekend and allowing anyone to show up for some laps -- but only at Noon.

Instructions: Arrive at the track by 11:30am to give you enough time to get through the gate, sign the waivers, and find the Grid (behind the garages - entrance is in the middle of the buildings). No helmet or rollbar required, seat belts buckled, convertibles allowed (top up or down) and $10 per driver (passengers go for free). Some rules though - no passing or out of control driving. Come back into the pits and get back to grid and let your passenger drive (all occupants must have seat belts in).

Concessions onsite will be open for food and drink as well.

Questions can be directed to Joel via email at jjkarns@yahoo.com

Thanks for the am/pm catch. I copied and pasted from a message that Joel put out earlier and didn't catch that.

Yes, 11:30am would be the latest arrival time to ensure you get cleared thru to participate.

Yes, this is open to the public. Feel free to email Joel directly with any questions.

I've stumbled on to one of the Lunch Laps at HPT at a BMW event earlier this year. It is WORTH the time and effort to get there! For only $10, I got to do enough laps that I lost count and really got to experience the track at a very fun speed.

Porsche Club is running at HPT this weekend. Pretty much the same rules. Sometimes the laps are fairly spirited, others not so much. All depends on the pace car. If you are not sure if you want to go "fast" line up at the end of the grid.
