2013 Monthly Cruise-in Schedule

This 70F weather today got me thinking 'Springtime'!

I'm wondering if it might not be too early to start piecing together our monthly cruise-in schedule for 2013.

Volunteers are needed to coordinate an event for each month. As volunteers step up, we'll capture the names here and post the official invitation in the Announcements folder when we get a date established.

After all the winter mess I'm sure most of us would like to get our cars all shined up again.....

Put me down for KCK to Lawrence in September. Day to be determined. Destination to be determined (I don't think we will do Queen Lizzie's again. They didn't have food half the time.) I'd do it in July but the 4th of July Parade in Parkville is in that month and wouldn't want two big events going on in the month. Unless that isn't a big deal.

Would like to make it to some of these, but work in Ag business that takes all my time in spring and summer. Hope to go to some in the fall.
We are going to the vintage races in Elkhart Lake WI on July 18th thru 20th. Doing the track touring on Sat. Wondering if anyone else is going?

What do you think about a photo shoot at the Depot where we can park on the circle? Maybe have a sit down at Johnny's across the street?
Suppose I could call the depot and ask if there are any events on a weekend that would inhibit us from parking in the round...
Any "iconic" places to get a photograph in Larry, maybe even near campus?

Question about hosting/setting up a Cruise-in. Do you go and talk to the people of the Sonic you are thinking about going to first or do we just post a date and location and show up? I would think about hosting a crusie in for July but what is the protocol for setting one up?

I always give them at least a 2 week advance notice, and try to give them a head/car count. I also find that if you ask they will give a discount or a "freebie" to the group. I usually do one of the summer cruise ins at the Roe & 435 Sonic and the manager there gives us free ice cream cones. Other stores have offered a discount on the bill.

Our other protocol is to spread the meet-ups around the metro area to make it more equitable for travel since we have members scattered across the whole area. No repeat locations in a season seems to be another unwritten rule.

Once you choose a site and a date (typically Thursday evenings), let us know and I will post it up on 'Announcements' page.

If you join us in June, you'll get a sense of how these go. Pretty low-key.
