What is YOUR next mod??

Post by LiLReD1 »

So have it, let us know what yer gonna do, and why, based on yer research. Interested to see what people like to do with their MINI's. Doesn't have to be a performance mod, maybe just some vinyl... let us know! So we can cheer you on! lol

I have an aftermarket rear swaybar to install on the Clubby, and unfortunately I have a feeling I'll be installing the winter tires soon. I'm also due for another oil change this weekend.

Other than that, I tend not to Mod my cars, nothing against it, just not for me, I pretty much like it just the way MINI built it! :D

Don't get me wrong, I love them as they are... but I'm still young enough and dumb enough to modify a perfectly good car, to try and make better. :)

You gonna keep that sway bar then?

I might put more stickers on mine. LOL I don't do the performance mods..they're too expensive and I don't want to screw anything up.. Thought about lowering the Mini but my xB was lowered and it was just a pain in the butt..

Sport Mode Auto on
19mm adjustable rear sway bar
Rear lower control arms
Chrome black out
Checkers on the spoiler

That's about it - for now :) All of this stuff is waiting for me when I get home. I am not sure when I will actually install it.

I'm thinking I will, I may want to install it before we head off to Heartland Park next spring. A good stiff rear roll bar really helps you get traction out of slow corners without having the DCS intervene, and since mine's adjustable, I can soften it up easily for regular street driving. Actually, the softest setting might be fine for the track too....

I don't think they make coil overs for the classics. It is either springs or rubber cones. The springs are very $$$ and really wouldn't be worth it. When I installed my hi-los, I just changed out the shocks. My rubber cones were good. You may want to check your cones for serviceability. I really don't think you need springs. Just my .02 :)

They do make a coilover set for them. A friend of mini in KC has them on his classic. It's pretty nice.

And KSminiman, yes they use a rubber cone instead of a spring as their suspension. Basically there's a trumpet shaped thing (the Hi-Lo) and inside that sits the cone and together it acts as a spring. They did that because they thought it made the ride smoother and I think because it took up less room...

Zactly, either that or they had a hydropneumatic system, with the front and rear wheels on the same side of the car coupled, but most had the rubber cones.

Here's a rear one, the Hi-lo (the two nuts on the shaft) is simply an adjustable link between the cone and the suspension arm, allowing you to change the ride height

I just picked it up and I can't wait for the run tomorrow. Driving home in rush hour is not really a good way to get a feel for it.
