Can somebody make jacking points?

Post by minicoopers43 »

I am missing atleast 1 of my OEM plastic jacking points and i refuse to pay about $15/ea for new ones.
WMW has some billet ones but they're way too expensive. http://www.waymotorworks.com/billet-jack-points.html

Does anyone have the materials/tools necessary to make some of these things?

Well i suppose $15 is cheap for MINI but it looks like it should be a $5 part.

Uh, you all do realize you don't leave those on the car while you drive, right?

The OP says he's "missing" one, which sorta implies to me that he has three others.......I think you really only need one, the one under your floor jack as you raise up the car, when you move the jack you move the spacer with it.....

Quoted from the link in the previous post....

The jack pads are intended to be used with a floor jack with a flat bottomed cup that is at least 3-inches in diameter and no more than 5/8-inch deep. The jack pads should be removed after use since the tool is not designed to remain in place while the car is in motion.

The jack pads have to be removed like dave said but i need the plastic jack point spacers. The jack pad fits in the spacer so you can use your floor jack at the factory jackin points since supposedly you aren't supposed to use a floor jack on the jack points themselves. Although the jack pad would be nice to have all i need at the moment is a spacer (oem jack point)

I've jacked my cars up using the factory jack points since day 1, I don't see the need for these at all, actually.......

I just set the plate on the jack up so one of the tabs is sticking into the little box section so the jack won't slip off and raise it up.

I totally agree with Dave. I think those are not necessary
