Overnight in Dodge City, KS on Aug 12, then on to Denver Aug 13.

How-in-the-world is Dodge City, KS going to be able to host that many MINI Cooper owners? Assuming 500-ish cars, that's 500-ish hotel rooms.

I've never been there (other than on the train riding thru in the middle of the night). What kind of hotel infrastructure is there?

I was just wondering the same thing, as I just saw the route.....

While I like the idea of taking the back roads to Denver rather than I-70 all the way, I also wonder where in the world all those folks will stay once they get to Dodge. I can't image there are 500 rooms in all of Dodge City, let alone 500 hotel rooms!! And the logistics of getting 500 MINIs worth of people fueled, fed, carwashed and on the road within a short number of morning hours the next day boggles the mind......

Looking at the map it looks like they'll be taking the old 50 hiway all the way to Dodge, then up thru Kit Carson and meeting up with I-70 in Limon, then on into Denver. All the other overnight stays for all the groups are in large cities, I wonder why they chose Dodge?

I think taking a bunch of backroads across 2 states with 500 MINIs will be an absolute hoot!

However, just in case, we have a room booked at Winter Park for the MITM event that weekend, and my sister lives in Denver, so we have some backup accomodations planned.

Who else from here is going?

Also, what is going to happen once they all get to Denver? Is it over at that point, or do they all go to Winter Park and hook up with the MITM folks or ??????

and, BTW, we're also taking the Mini-poopers with us!

I checked the route, it looks like fun for the KC folks. I still can't find the hotel in Denver. Has it been posted?

I talked to a guy from Chicago, and he said a bunch of MINI's from there, Dallas, and Jersey are making KC their meet up point. So it's def going to be some crazy amount of MINI's in KC!

I talked to Samer about a couple other things this am, he said MINI USA is co-ordinating this thing and so far they're being very closed mouth about the details, but if you're gonna join the run to Denver, I'd recommend making a reservation at a motel in Dodge now, while they still have rooms. You can always cancel if your plans change....

Rumors right now are that the events will headquarter at the Pepsi center, so I assume the headquarters hotel in Denver will be nearby too....but nothing's been announced yet.

This is going to be a great event. I am not signing up for Minis in the Mountains and I will be heading to Denver either Friday after work or early Saturday morning. I will be taking both Minis to this event

Did a search on prices for hotel rooms in Dodge City, KS for one night:

Super 8- $72.64
Comfort Inn- $99
Holiday Inn- $106.02
La Quinta- $99
Best Western- $109.99
Travelodge- $55 (via Orbitz)- this hotel didn't get very good reviews on Orbitz....
Days Inn- $60 (via Orbitz)

There's also a campground too but there's no prices on their website: http://www.gunsmokervpark.com/index.php?page=home

Is anyone planning on setting up a meet and greet in KC for when the MINIs start coming in or is this something that you wait for Baron to plan? From what I've seen in the past MINI USA won't release much information on there stay in KC until about 2 or 3 weeks prior to the date.

I'm hearing that the MTTS caravan plan to arrive in Denver on SAt, and won't even leave KC till Thurs. I don't know how many cars will arrive here in KC, but the number may not be as large as I originally thought, maybe 30 - 40 cars. While I'd hate to miss any of the events they may have planned here for Wed and it would have been fun to caravan with the group, I think I'm going back to my original plan.

We'll leave for MITM on Wed, arriving Wed eve, then spend Thurs and Fri with the MITM folks doing those events. Then, I'll drive down on Sat to Denver and do the MTTS events, back up to WP for Sunday's events, then on from there.

Since it's early days yet, everything is subject to change as information is released.....

Dave,

I look forward to seeing you and the other KC folks out here in Colorado. I am completely skipping MITM and just heading up for MTTS. MITM is my least favorite of all Mini events. See you on Saturday!! (in August :))

Seth, it'll be great to say hi to you and the "girls" (are your daughters driving, dating yet? They grow up so fast!)

Since you live there, you get to drive those mtn roads every day, for us flatlanders it's a treat to be able to hit the hills and cruise a bit, so I'm looking forward to the MITM part of the trip as much as the MTTS. I'm concerned that the MTTS is going to be more of a "Marketing event" for the Crossland(?) Countryman(?) or whatever they're gonna call it with a hundred MINI owners milling about a parking lot all day admiring each other's cars. I'd rather be up in the hills motoring....

Dave, good point on the mountain roads! Either way it is going to be a great time. I think I am going to disassemble the classic this summer and repaint it. I should have it done by MTTS!

I'm not sure what I'm going to be able to do with this. Worst case, hopefully I can sit on the side of the road and honk as they all drive by! Seems we're going to be deployed sooner than later now, and it's gonna keep my busy till then from here on out. Grrr.
