Low Tire Pressure Indicator

Post by tdiguy »

I wonder if this will alarm if the car is not driven for several days. My wife is out of town and the car has been used for about 30 miles in the last two weeks, sitting undriven for 6 days, used a bit, and then sitting for 5 more. (And things have cooled significantly since I last drove.) When I got in last night the low tire pressure alarm was on. I looked and all the tires looked good. I will go inflate them, but I wonder if inactivity could cause this sensor to mis-sense?

Anyone else have this experience?

Thanks-

I doubt inactivity will cause it to false alarm. Why would it?

The tire pressures changed enough from the temperature to trigger the alarm. I know mine goes off in the morning when we've had a really cold night, after driving for a few miles the tires heat up enough to turn the light off again. Same for sitting in the sun, if one side of the car is in the shade all day on a sunny but cool day it can cause a false alarm too.

But the best thing to do is to check them periodically (I do it monthly) with a really accurate gauge
