Looking for race mechanic SW Missouri region
Looking for race mechanic SW Missouri region
I picked up a 63 Mini R for vintage racing about a year ago, from a shop in the Chicago area. The car is in great shape, but needs some work by an experienced mechanic regarding a gearbox issue and a few minor details. Not racing it yet, but hope to start in the next year or so. I live in Joplin, and found a highly regarded local mechanic, but he is too busy with other projects currently. I wanted to see if anyone knows of someone in my general area, or the KC area, that they would recommend.
Thanks
Thanks

Thanks for the reply, Dave. Right now ,the only issue I'm having is difficulty in engaging 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear, particularly with downshifts. The gearbox ( stock synchro, I think ) was rebuilt not long ago, so hopefully a linkage adjustment issue or something not too extensive. Also, need throttle linkage adjustment. I have a trailer, but need to do some work on it, so I'll touch base with you when I get that done about setting up a time to bring the car up to your shop.
Thanks again,
Steve

Sorry about the delay, Dave. I'm not sure which specific events at this time. I joined HVR a while back, and still need to get my competition license. HVR uses Hallet for their recommended school, but they use their own track cars as far as I know. I have seen that HVR has used Kansas Speedway for an annual event in the past, and have other events with other organizations at various tracks.

Hallet is a fun track for a Mini!
Look forward to seeing the car and meeting you!
