GOOD NEWS!

We're back on!

As much as I'd like to take credit for this, I just called the track to complain and the lady who answered said she'd just gotten an email indicating that the event is back on again! YaY!

I asked her to send me a copy of the email so I could post it here, when I get it I will..............

Edit: Here's the official word, short but sweet...........

yes it will happen

This is a relief. I'd been stewing about them canceling it all day.

Ok, let's hope this really happens as we have a nice number of Minis for Sept.

I'm ready, already. I was ready in July, and August. Feed me!

I've never actually been to HP, is there a place to put stuff like a cooler with water and a snack?

I was wondering about this as well. I plan on bringing my torque wrench, and I was also thinking about removing my spare tire and tool tray while I'm out on the track and it would be nice to have a place to put this stuff.

There is a large parking area right next to the false grid where you can unload stuff and park it, I would not bring anyting valuable like a good camera and leave it unattended, but the stuff in the interior of your car should be safe. Last time we all parked together, and if we caravan up again we can do it the same way. We were early last time, so we pretty much had out choice of parking places............

Plenty of room for a cooler and/or lawn chairs etc, and I'd recommend water or energy drinks.........

After each run you wind up back at your own parking space...........

Speaking of a camera...

Post by MiniGeoff »

Does anyone have a video camera and want to make a vid? I've got a pretty nice in car mount, but no camera that will take anything more then a bit of video and I'm not sure it'd be that good. I'm happy to either loan the camera or have it in my car.

Additionally, I *might* know someone with a TV screen in their car and video "in" cables to do on the spot views, if we were interested. I just don't recomend watching a vid of driving while driving, even as a passenger. It's a good way to get carsick... :)

I will have my vid cam on board as I did last time, and if someone wants to edit the film afterwards, it might be more watchable. Check the other threads for my vids Here from the June track day.

I generaly tend to run at the back of the MINI pack so I can get vid of the other member's and their cars.......

Last time PeteK's wife took some stills, it would be great if we had someone to do that this time too.

OK, how about a roll call of everyone that's going to Heartland Park on Wed afternoon?

Shall we meet at Montana Ted's for lunch?

Any spectators going along for the ride or to take pics?

Anyone bringing a stills camera to record us for posterity?

I'll be going to the track, but I'm not sure about meeting for lunch. Right now, I'm set to leave work at one and it'll probably take me about 30 minutes to make it to Ted's. What time are you planning on meeting for lunch, and then leaving for the track? I can also see if I can leave work earlier to try and make it to lunch.

I guess meet at 1pm, leave for the track at 2, arrive HPT at 3 pm, that's the tentative plan anyway. Open for discussion, tho......

If you can get to Cabellas near the Ks Speedway, it's just a little further up Village West Dr.

I hope to be at lunch by 1pm, but might be a bit late. I'll be working downtown until about noonish.

Looking forward!

Any slots left for a lowly GP?

I had been called for jury duty this week so I couldn't commit until this afternoon. Now I'm available.

I just registered and I'm in! Not sure about lunch yet but I'll keep you posted.

So in the last 12 months the tracks I've driven in a MINI include:

Laguna Seca - Monterey, CA
Sandia Motorsports Park - Albuquerque, NM
Gateway - St. Louis, MO
Spring Mountain - Pahrump, NV (thanks Jeff)
Circuit Zanddvoort - Zandvoort, Netherlands
and now HPT

Stoked!

Try to make it to lunch if you can. It will be fun to caravan to Topeka with a bunch of Minis.

Keep your fingers crossed on the weather.

Great news Sundance! Glad you can join us...............

According to Weather.com, it should be pretty much the same as it was in June :? hot and humid, and partly cloudy, but no rain in the forcast. High almost 90*

Bring water or other cold drinks............

I'm in Milwaukee today, but I'll be back tonight, so I'll see you all tomorrow at Ted's for lunch.............

I've lost count........... Does that make 10 going to the track?

I think so, as long as I make it. My plan is to be there, and as I am now I'd make the trip, but I'm very sick with a bad sinus infection that is in my chest and ears, making it difficult to hear and breathe. Just got back from the Dr. and am now on lots of drugs. Here's hoping the whip me back into shape enough to make the trip. :thumbsup2:
