So many songs............

You know I work all day
To get you money to buy you things
And it's worth it just to hear you say
You're gonna give me everything

Nope, and consequently it's out of my experience range, we'll need one of our younger members to respond........

Like I said, with a few exceptions almost anything newer than the mid to late 90's and I'm out of the contest

Hey! Not only have I answered 2 Beatles songs, both done well before my time, by the other quote I offered was the Ramones, released in 1976, when I was 5.

But I was trying to put something a bit newer out there...

Anyways, there's nothing wrong with posting some newer stuff, maybe some of our other (younger) members will participate then.........

Geoff, I think you are gonna have to give this one up. I couldn't get it until I looked it up, and listened to a clip, then I was like "oh yea".

Can I do one while we wait?

Alright... it's "Like a Stone" by Audioslave

And Laurie, I know the band and even the album it's on, but I can't think of which song....

Okay, I guess no one can get mine.

U2, Trying to Throw Your Arms Around the World.

Technically it is still Geoff's turn since he answered the last one correctly and no one guessed his last one either.

With the moon and the stars just shining bright

You answered it back on page 2, November 1st. You were correct. You posted a new lyric in the same response.

Good job Don, you are correct of course...........

One of the cool things about this song is that it's actually true. The guy who wrote the song also built the car.

Clearly no one's head was clear enough in that day to remember Cheech and Chong's "Basketball Jones, featuring Tyrone Shoelaces." :) "Got a basketball jones oh baby, oooooo. . .

Here's one that's even more obscure (put on your thinking hat):

Et voilà, mes brave gens
La goualante de pauvre Jean,
Qui vous dit en vous quittant,
« Aimez vous ! »

I'll quit now. ;)

I ran into this problem when I put up this thread on carnuts too, the problem with putting up obscure songs is that interest in the thread dries up cause no one can get them...........it's like putting up songs from albums, the only ones who will know the songs are those who have the album - and played it enough to remember it......... :?

So you'll probably have to educate us as to yours, Don. I'm a C&C fan, but I don't remember Basketball Jones either........the only French song I would recognize is La Vie en Rose, so maybe this is a Piaff song too?

At any rate, here's one from one of my favorie songwriters, although his singing leaves a lot to be desired, his wordsmanship is above reproach......

Early one morning the sun was shining
I was laying in bed
Wond'ring if she'd changed it all
If her hair was still red

You're right about Edith Piaf - good thinking. "The Poor People of Paris." You're also right about it being a bit obscure. :) Someone else is going to have to get your last one, however.

Here's a little more of the first verse then.........

Early one mornin' the sun was shinin',
I was layin' in bed
Wond'rin' if she'd changed at all
If her hair was still red.
Her folks they said our lives together
Sure was gonna be rough
They never did like Mama's homemade dress
Papa's bankbook wasn't big enough.
And I was standin' on the side of the road
Rain fallin' on my shoes
Heading out for the East Coast
Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through,

'Tangled Up In Blue' - the Indigo Girls do an amazing version that doesn't give me hives like Dylan's voice does.
