6th Annual Iowa MINI Fall Tour (Oct 11)+bonus event (pics!)

This Saturday, October 11, will be the 6th Annual MINICooperIowa Fall Tour.

This year we will be touring the eastern part of Iowa, including Kalona and Muscatine.

There will be a meet-up in Des Moines around 8am, with departure for Kalona at 8:30am sharp.

The Kalona meet-up is at 11am sharp. From there we'll tour some of the scenic backroad of eastern Iowa, ending around 6pm or so.

I know this is last minute, I didn't think to invite the KC gang since we've never officially done that before. But having met several of you, I know you'd fit in with the Iowa group just fine.

BONUS EVENT:

A separate event is happening the next day...

The British Car Club of Iowa is having an event on Sunday, Oct 12. They'll be visiting the ghost race track Greenwood Raceway south of Des Moines. See: http://greenwoodroadway.com/

This is going to be a very special event of a great old historic race track that is slowly decaying back into farm field. It has not been maintained in 40 years, but is still mostly in tact.

Greg, wish I had known about this sooner, but I've already made plans to go to HPT for the SCCA runoffs all weekend. Sounds like a great drive tho, and the weather should be beautiful! have a great time!

Yes, I realize I'm not giving you all much notice. I apologize for that.

It didn't even cross my mind until yesterday to cross post the event here. I'll be sure to give you all much more advanced notice in the future.

For future reference, the Iowa MINI group has two main events. We participate in the Brit/Euro Auto Fest in Des Moines in June, and we have our Fall Tour usually the 2nd Saturday in October.

The group is rather small and Iowa is a big state -- it's hard to generate consistent attendance so we focus on fewer events where we try to get better participation. The eastern Iowa MINIs do have more frequent events, since they seem to have more MINIs in the various cities scattered across east Iowa.

The Iowa MINIs also cross-participate with the British Car Club of Iowa for events, too. The BCCI is very welcoming and I'm sure they'd welcome any of the KC MINIs to their events. http://www.ric-johnson.com/iowabrit/

We had 15-20 cars at the peak, and consistently 15 or so cars the whole day. Had about 30 people at lunch.
