Thanks for joining in the parade, unfortunately the Parkville PD will not allow parade participants to toss candy for fear of injury to members of the adoring crowd
. They are very strict about this and will provide only one warning per group, then toss you from the parade for a second offense. If you would like to hand out candy, someone will need to walk beside your car and pass it out to the crowd. Kids should never cross the parade route. As a life long resident, I have attended almost every parade in Parkville while growing up ( this is still a work in progress) and I have never, nor has any one else I knew, ever received a candy related injury or been mowed down by a swiftly moving parade entry moving at 1 mile an hour
( But the rules are the rules....)
Even without the candy tossing, this is a fun family event. The turnout for the parade is amazing ! People start lining up early, from 63rd and 9 Highway all the way down the railroad tracks at the end of Main Street Parkville and they will wave and cheer as you pass.
