We could plan a Go-Kart event this month since there doesn't seem like much else going on....

Count me in. The best way to plan a Sadler's event is just to pick a date and see how many of us sign up. I attempted to reserve the place last year but they wanted either a substantial deposit or full advance payment--which is too much hassle and stress for pre-registration commitment and collecting money, etc.

Ok... So my calendar is open for Saturday Feb. 20. Anyone interested in that date? If we get interest, it will be worth it to call Sadlers to confirm they won't be closed for remodeling, etc., or that they don't have any large parties reserved that day. It's not as fun if they have a booked party and or have the track divided into grandprix and the NASCAR circuits.

Again, how's Feb 20?

Sadler's Indoor Racing
325 N. Mur-Len
Olathe, Ks

913-768-7700

Since it's all indoor racing, weather isn't really a factor - as long as you can get there! No speed limits, however they're not bumper cars, so no bashing is allowed.

They have two layouts, the Grand Prix (road course) and the Nascar (oval), both are fun in their own right, but sometimes they combine the two which gives a lot more open course, and higher speeds.

Kabootist and I hope to make it..we love Go-Karts, especially Sadler's.

Since the Go-Karting will happen at 11, am I safe to assume we will collectively go to lunch afterward? I just did a quick Google search and found a bunch of Mexican restaurants and a Buffalo Wild Wings very close and just about anything you could think of within 5 or 10 miles. Does someone with more familiarity with the area have any good suggestions?

I have a food suggestion. Mexican restaurant ...Chapala , 105 South Clairbourne rd, olathe, ks. It is the street before Mur-len coming off of i35. It is on the right side across the street from the Big Lot's and Tuesday Morning. A couple of minute's from the kart place. Decent food, cheap and kewlll furniture...lol. Since they don't open til noon... I assume the new time is Noon??

There is a Sadler's coupon for 5 free minutes of track time when 5 minutes are purchased in the Entertainment 2010 book.
If someone would like mine, just send me a pm with your name and address and I will pop it in the post for you. ( It should make it in time)

Sadlers is definitely a good time. When I lived in Olathe, I was only a 5 min drive from there. I spent too much money when they first opened
If you are lucky, they will combine the road course and oval into one big loop. You can hit 45 on the back straight if they do, which is really fast when you are that low to the ground.

Chapala is our favorite mexi out that direction. The staff is very freindly and helpful (its family owned) and you would have no idea that it used to be a Winsteads by the way they decorated.

id love to be there, but have FIRST robotics that I mentor for at SME... build season for the regional competition takes precedence over tearing up the track 8)

My son has done this several times and tells me it can be a blast--though he encourages everyone to dress warmly. The building is unheated and chilly.

So he will be there with us, though whether my wife and I are brave enough to join him on the track is another question. But we will gladly eat!
