Control Arm Bushings
What are your opinions of the Alta PSRS? If you have them on your car even better.

Re: Control Arm Bushings
I like Powerflex.....you can buy them from Way Motor Works already pressed into the brackets, then just exchange your old brackets back to him - it saves a lot of work!

Re: Control Arm Bushings
I haven't researched them much but I think I heard they were pretty noisy.
Unless you plan on racing your MINI competitively I wouldn't spend the $290~ over the $90~ for the powerflex .
Here's what alta says about them.
"OEM Bushings vs The PSRS
The OEM MINI bushings are made of soft rubber to reduce noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), and make the ride more comfortable, in turn this creates a large amount of wheel movement under braking, accelerating and cornering. For the performance minded MINI owner, this creates unwanted movement, suspension mis-alignment, and changes in handling characteristics of your MINI. The solid design of the PSRS eliminates suspension misalignment making your MINI handle consistently and predictably during all driving conditions including extreme driving. "

Re: Control Arm Bushings
Are the Alta's the ones that have to be welded so they don't rattle?
We've done several sets of the Power Flex bushings and I think everyone who's done them is happy with them....

From what I was told. The Alta's do not need to be welded in.Minidave wrote:Are the Alta's the ones that have to be welded so they don't rattle?

Re: Control Arm Bushings
It may be some others, but I thought it was those....not that they needed to be welded in, that they rattled, so you had to weld the center bushing to the control arm to stop it.
Edit: My bad, I thought you were talking about lower control arm bushings....That's what happens when you just use acronyms....

Re: Control Arm Bushings
Yep, those are the ones I was talking about after all.....here's a pic showing how someone tried to weld the center section so it would stop rattling! They're like race car parts, they function well but the penalty is the noise - on a race car you don't care if the suspension bushings rattle as long as they do their job, on a street driven car you do - at least I do!
He's replacing them with Powerflex, BTW....go here to read about it.. http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/ ... post128399
