Yes, spectators are free, and you can wander around the track to find good vantage points to watch.

One of the best tho is at the top of the stands on the inside of the track, up near the corner, you can see almost the whole track from there!

Spectating is free - as is the car show if you'd like to show off your MINI!

Anyone else going to spectate?

I had a lot of fun in the autocross class today. :) My best time was 50 seconds which I don't consider too bad since the instructor got 46 seconds. Also did three parade laps and I have to say that is that fastest parade I've ever been in....

Came over looking for a car show around noon, got to do parade laps at 12:30pm instead!

Now I understand why some of our members spend entire Wednesdays out at HPT. Just running around that track in 2nd & 3rd gear was an absolute blast.

I purposely slowed down on the southbound straight to give me some space from the cars in front, then worked the esses at the south end and catch the BMWs. Then I'd slow some more to let the cars in front get out ahead, then catch them all by the time we got to the end of the northbound straight.

...and I was in Judy's R50. With the A/C on. With a 22mph wind out of the south (with gusts to 30mph, according to NWS).

A huge thank you to the event coordinators!

Hoping that someone out there took some photos of the parade lap -- would love to get some photos of our green/white MINI on the track.

OK, then......which touring laps day do you want to sign up for? :D

I wish we could get more MINI owners to give it a try, almost anyone who's done it says it's the most fun they can have with clothes on, and you do learn a lot about your car and it's driving dynamics. Then if you really want your eyes opened, have an experienced driver take you around the track in your car - you'll be amazed at what our little MINIs can do!

Price $125.00 + $6.00 fee = 2005 snell or newer helmet of your choice. I believe the price is $150.00 at the gate. The next Touring day at HPT is June 13, 2012. That's tomorrow!

I watched Stephanie do the auto-x school. She progressed very nicely! Two of the instructors are friends of mine ( Jerry Irvine & Christian Els ) and very qualified to instruct. If you visit kcbmwclub.org (look under forums-events) there are pictures of cars on track and a video of the fastest auto-x time that include brakeing, accelerating and location on the course.
Stephanie would enjoy the track more with proper instruction.

BTW thw white E46 M3 withn the huge rear wing is for sale $40,000!
