Kansas City MINI Enthusiasts

I just got the word the 2012 Kansas City Region SCCA Rallies will be Saturday, November 10 and Sunday November 11th. As in the past this is a Time Speed Distance rally. More details:

*Each day will have it's own route.
*Each day's Rally will be a stand alone rally. The 2 days are not combined for scoring purposes. Each day will have it's own winners.
*SCCA membership is NOT required.
*You MUST have a navigator. No solo drivers allowed.

What is a SCCA TSD rally?
*You are given a specific route to drive with turn by turn instructions. These turns are given at specific odometer readings.
*The goal to drive the route and arrive at checkpoints in a specific amount of time.
*Typically, all driving is done at the posted speed limit. As a sanctioned SCCA event everything is to be done "by the book".
*Typically, the routes are on all paved roads...NO GRAVEL!!

Folks, this event is very low stress on your cars and we see some great roads and great scenery. Last year, some first timers (Johnna) went back and drove the route again for fun and took some friends with her.

So you think competitive driving at posted speed limits is an oxymoron? Wait until you try this event!!

What time does the event start on the 10th??

I am interested in this. What time and location for start points on both day? Is there a registration fee for this event?

I'm still waiting for the official flyer but I do know this much.....

*The starting point both days will be Lawrence, KS. close to the airport right off US 24..
*Saturday's route will be mostly Missouri with a finish line of Weston.
*Sunday's route will be all/mostly Kansas with a finish line of Lawrence...maybe Johnny's?
*Yes, there is a fee. I don't recall what was charged in the past but SCCA members get a break. If you are an SCCA member remember to bring your card.
*If I recall, starting time is around noon but it may be a little later.

Does your navigator have to be an SCCA member as well? Cuz mine won't be.

Rich is planning to put a cap of 30 cars per Rally do don't delay signing up. You will pay the day of the rally.

The fee is per car....not per person.

14 spots have been taken for Saturday's Rally. Only 16 left!

No word on Sunday's sign up.

To register, simply email Rich Bireta and tell him which day you'll attend. You'll pay at the Rally.

"Rally entries have been stable. 23 firm plus 5 tentative for Saturday. 10 firm for Sunday. I would say that anyone planning to attend should contact me (rbireta@gmail.com) to confirm that there is space available."

Bummed to bail, but I've got no navigator on Sunday and Minix2 is working way north. Two fewer MINI/Minis to represent our club this year. Hope to catch this next year, I had so much fun the last time!

I'll be there with Oliver. Look for the two Zach's to win (maybe)
