I am going next Weds. Anyone else?

FYI, they will have the entire 2.5 mile track open for us, not just the normal 2.1 miles. They do not normally do this for the street cars so here is your opportunity to get an even better bang for your buck! I am looking forward to another challenge that I have not done, the carousel corners and going right instead of left at the end of the main straight! Got to get my new front brake pads and rotors installed this Saturday at Minidave's Garage Day!

Yes, I will be there as long as it doesn't rain. The chance to drive the whole track is something we don't normally get to do - should be fun!

I'm pretty sure Don has this on his calendar too.

anyone else?

Gears, you can spectate at no cost to check it out and if you have a helmet, you could ride along to get the lay of the track for next time. Forecast is for 86 degrees so it will be a hot one! I'll bring a cooler with water bottles. :D

What is the requirement for the helmet? I'd love to attend on the 12th but I'll need to pick up the proper helmet before hand. Also do you all usually meet up and drive there as a group.

Thanks

We usually meet at the Legends somewhere around 10:30 and get a quick bite to eat and fill the tanks if needed, then caravan up together. Helmet must be a snell rated 2005 or newer, most motorcycle helmets don't qualify as they're not fire rated, but some do. check the website for more current details.... hpt.com

Oh, you also need current registration and insurance card to go on track.

Glad to have you going with us Redsled, if you need any more info, check any of the older HPT threads here on the forum, some of them also have video. If you just want to go up and watch this time, spectators are free, but you'll have far more fun if you can hit the track.

This is the first time I've been able to drive the whole track, should be a real blast!

Here's a thread from last April's run to HPT, with some vids and pics

I will again be out of town this week. I have a helmet that I would be willing to loan out. I could take it over to Dave's house so he can take it with him. Just let me know today.

Anyone know of someplace locally I can purchase a helmet? I check all my motorcycle helmets and they wont work.

I don't know of anyplace you could get one locally, although I'm sure there must be.....

Check with http://soloracer.com/ and see if they could get you one overnight, their prices are better than almost anywhere else I tried.

Since you're driving in a coupe instead of an open car, you might find an open face helmet to work better.....mine is closed face but I always drive with it open because of the heat.

Some motorcycle helmets do meet the regulation, you might check around the bike shops to see if you could get one that does. The current requirement is Snell SA or M, 2000 and newer - that should be fairly easy to find, most race helmets are now Snell 2010 or newer......

"M" means motorcycle, so a Snell rated motorcycle helmet 2000 or newer should work too.

I have driven the carousel section before. To me it gives a much more flowing aspect to the track. You don't weant to miss the opportuinity to drive this section. No I won't be there.

If you're too agressive it will chew up the right side tires tho, just FYI!

Boxer brought over his helmet, so SWT CHI you're set for Wed.

I also found a couple of tools after the shop day that I'll bring along, I think they belong to Hagar.

Well, bad news boys, somethings come up and I'm not going to be able to go.......sorry. I was really looking forward to this wed's event too.....

My next opportunity will probably be Sept., depending on my school schedule.

SWT CHI will come by tomorrow to pick up Boxer's helmet, he's still planning to go as of now.

OK, here's a vid of the second session, the sound is terrible because of the wind, so you'll probably want to watch it with the sound off....
