Hello,
It is time to start thinking about the 4th of July parade, again. The Kansas City MINI Club has been proudly been participating since 2008.
I know this is a holiday weekend, but if we have peeps and cars that are interested in attending, I will be happy to coordinate the event.
Just let me know...

Here is the highlevel info:
The annual Parkville July Fourth Celebration parade on Saturday, July 4 at 10:00 a.m. which begins at 63rd Street and Hwy 9 and ends in Historic Downtown Parkville. Parade line up will begin at 9:00 a.m. at 63rd Street and Bell Road.

Thanks
Marlow Main

Okay, we are offically registered.

Parkville 4th of July Parade

Parade line up starts at 9:00 am and the parade begins about 10:00 am-ish. For those of you are new to this event, set your GPS to 6300 NW Bell Rd, Parkville, MO 64152. There will be a parade volunteer that will point you to a general assembly point for the group and tell us who we follow in the parade. I will be there with the hyper blue/white 06 MCS with the blue wheels. The parade starts around 10 am ish and travels down 9 highway and on through downtown Parkville. This is a an extremely slow moving (parades speeds), family friendly, all age, event and everyone is invited to attend.

There are just a couple of parade safety rules that the police officers strictly enforce:
1) once the parade starts, you must stay in your car and spectators are not allowed to approach the cars
2) no candy throwing - you can have some one walk the route and pass out candy

Some things that you may want to bring:

• detailing kit
• decorations – if you choose to decorate your MINI/Mini
• water / something cool to drink
• snacks
• sunblock
• camera

Does anyone else see the irony of our cars in an Independence Day parade?

The crowd loves our cars, even the ones that are proudly sporting the Union Jack in one form or another ...

If it were not for Britain, the United States wouldn't exist so in a sense it is sort of appropriate for the Union Jack to be present. Of course that is just my justification for having Union jacks on 9 locations.

Tentatively Jane and Steve Amy will attend with NIGEL (the Cooper Convertible previously known as WHUTFUN). We are not sure if we have the Grandsons that day early or not so will confirm later.

Thank you to all of you that are planning on spending the morning in Parkville to participate in the parade. For those of that may still be on the fence, this is a family friendly event open to all.
We have 11, possibly 12 MINIs and thier peeps signed up. According to the the weather report this morning, Saturday should be sunny and beautiful (I would bring a quick detail kit with a MINI friendly drying rag, just to be on the safe side).

Parade line up starts around 9:00 am and the parade begins about 10:00 am-ish. For those of you are new to this event, you can set your GPS to 6300 NW Bell Rd, Parkville, MO 64152 (this is the area to the west of the Price Chopper on 45 Highway, also known as Tom Watson Parkway). After we get lined up in our area and tidy up our cars, there will be plenty of time to talk to other parade participants, and hang out with the clowns (no, I am not talking about Frank ;-) )

When I called the Main Street Association, the parade line up had not been finialized, so I do not have our line up number yet. There will be several parade volunteers that can point to a general assembly point for the group and tell us who we follow in the parade. I will be there with Cousteau (Hyper Blue/White 06 MCS with the blue wheels)

A couple of quick reminders:
1) once the parade starts, you must stay in your car and spectators are not allowed to approach the cars
2) no candy throwing - you can have some one walk the route and pass out candy if you like

Some things that you may want to bring:
• detailing kit
• decorations – if you choose to decorate your MINI/Mini
• water / something cool to drink
• snacks
• sunblock
• hat / sun glasses
• camera

See you on Saturday!!!

Hey all. I was planning to be in the parade but I'm going to bow out for this one for a number of reasons. One the AC blower in my car stopped working. Two I am going to be buying a newer MINI and selling Oliver. And three I got some bad news today regarding one of my family's cats. Took her to the vet because she hasn't been feeling well lately and the vet says she has cancer.

I hope you all have a fantastic time and a Happy 4th of July. I will see you all at the next cruise-in.
