r53 passenger door lock

The passenger door will not lock or unlock via remote. It works fine if I manually push it down and will go up if I open the handle from the inside. I found an actuator for around $200, but I wanted to see if it could be something else first before I spent the money. If looks like it will be a royal PITA to replace.
