Charitable recepient for this year's show

Post by ragtopday Johnna »

Last year the registration proceeds from Minis at the Market were donated to Animal Haven in memory of a club member. This year we've received suggestions to donate the proceeds again to Animal Haven and to Harvesters. Both people and animal charities are in great need this year due to the recession and both Animal Haven and Harvesters were special to club members now motoring in the sky.

If you have input on this, would you please share it here?

I like the idea of keeping it really local - Foxwood Rescue - where we adopted a kitten a few years ago. They subsist on donations and fees from spays and neuters. They specialize in taking in feral cats and neonatal kittens and puppies that animal control and shelters won't deal with because they need to be bottle fed and hand raised until old enough to be adopted. These animals aren't kept in shelter conditions, but are raised in foster homes, a philosophy i truly admire.

They can't afford to run their own website, so they use petfinder to post all of their adoptions. They don't have the means to fundraise like a foodbank or the ASPCA, so a few dollars from this sort of event is exactly what they need.

here's some more info:

The charitable recipient's of this year's show will be Harvesters in memory Glenn O'Gorman and Animal Haven in memory of Jeff Weaver. When you mail your registration form in for the show, please write your check one of the charities (your choice). Or if you feel generous, write a check to both. :D
