STDs installed!

Post by ksminiman »

got the M7 strut tower defenders installed on the MINI. Although they may not perform a very large part in protecting the strut towers they were a perfect template for straightening the strut towers to close to original position. The car drives noticeably different since straightening the towers. it is much more responsive and more sure footed in corners. The camber was almost 1 degree out of alignment on the front due to the mushroomed towers. I took before pictures to compare with other pictures of straight towers. Just thought I would mention this to the fellow first gen MINI owners.

here are some pics of before, what it became and what it should look like and did before installing the STDs. I forgot to take pictures before installing the plates so I have a pic of a straight tower.

Good tower

How bad they got before fixing (right before I fixed them) sorry for the poor pic quality.

the actual body of the car? or just the rubber inside? the rubber can be replaced the body has to be welded and painted.

I wouldnt be too worried. My passenger side rubber has been torn for a while. Maybe that is how my MINI got STDs  anyway it isnt too bad. I was worried that you had cracked metal.

looks pretty good actually! id get a new mount for that side when you get the chance and get some plates or just go IE fixed camber plates or something but it looks very good. far better than mine did when i finally got around to fixing.

can you wipe off the dust/dirt that is on there? it looks like they may have been repaired before.
