Alta BOV Spring (R56)

Post by SchwarzR56 »

First off, I'm new to the Forum (first post!)

Has anyone installed / had experience with the stiff spring from Alta on their R56?

I bought while awhile back for my 2011 MCS but haven't had the time to install it yet. After looking around today for some pointers on North American Motoring, I saw some pretty alarming photos. Apparently the new spring has the capability of shredding the seals around the BOV?!?!

Does anyone know if this is Alta Spring related or simply a stock BOV issue?

Just a little weary of the install now - any help or advice would be appreciated!

First off, welcome to the forum!

Secondly, be aware that you see a lot of complaining on NAM, take it with a grain of salt. You might consider looking at Motoring Alliance, across the top there is a tab called Library, check in there for how-to's and such.

I'm wary of doing anything like this to a car in warranty......that's why I use factory oil filter and oil when I change mine, why give them an out if you have a problem later?

And no, I haven't tried it, obviously. :D

I thought the trick setup was to use the Audi part?

How about providing a link to the article that concerned you?
