I'm planning on going now that my SCCA Solo season has ended.

Do they give refunds if you can't drive because of the weather?Minidave wrote:Hope it doesn't snow!

Probably...........during the rest of the season if you can't make a session for any reason they will automatically move your reservation to the next session as long as you give them at least 24 hrs notice. Since this is the last one for the year, I'd expect they'd either refund, or apply it to next season.

That is correct. The Announcements forum is for official club events and news. Stuff like track days at HPT, among other gatherings, are not official club gatherings but simply events at which club members can meet. Once again, it's simple forum housekeeping and organization.hctiev wrote:I assume this was moved to Grassroots Gatherings because it isn't an official KC Mini Club event - right? It might be good to revisit what goes in what category and why.
Thanks.
When in doubt as to where to post something, the Lounge is always a safe bet. If it's MINI related, go fot it.

I plan on officially paying and registering this week. It will be in the novice group for sure!Minidave wrote:FWIW, I'm planning to go to the intermediate group this time.
Anyone else?
How many times have you done the novice route before you decided to move up a notch?

I've run twice now at Heartland, but I had previous SCCA experience......as much as anything, I just wanted to stay with the group the first couple of times, but now that we have a large enough group, we'll probably have a significant number of MINIs in both the Novice and Intermediate groups.
If any of you are reluctant, please understand that you will have plenty of company - in fact, the novice group was the largest one there last time and there weren't enough instructors to go around, that's another reason a few of us will move up, so there will be more instructors available for the true novices.
As far as when you move to the intermediate group, it's entirely up to you and the instructors - if they feel you're ready they can assign you to the next group as well. But I think anyone with no previous track experience should run at least 2 events in the Novice group.
Another good reason is the free instruction - it costs $500 or more for 2 days of this type instruction at a Phil Wickes or club sponsored weekends, this amount of instruction is a bargain, we should take advantage of it!
I'm really excited to see so many people take interest in this event, and I think it's terrific that we have had so many new people come out and try it. So far, I don't think anyone has been disappointed!
One of the most fun parts of this day for me tho is having lunch and getting to know my fellow MINIacs. Shall we meet up at the Legends again? It seems like a good central place to get together, and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from............
I'm already looking forward to another fun day at the track!

I already have the time off approved at work, so even if I can't make it to the track, I can still meet up for lunch before class.Minidave wrote:Shall we meet up at the Legends again? It seems like a good central place to get together, and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from............
