'chick' music, but one of my favourite artists of all time:

"we're in a room without a door, and i am sure without a doubt
they're gonna wanna know how we got in here
and they're gonna wanna know how we plan to get out..."

That would be Shameless, Ani Difranco. Thanks for replacing my ear worm! (Now departing the Lilith Fair collection... )

Here's one from the past. It was a hit in 1977, but shortened for radio airplay. This "lost verse" surfaced in 1999.

Old men in tank tops
Cruising the gift shops
Checkin' out Chiquitas down by the shore
They dream about weight loss
Wish they could be their own boss
Those three day vacations become such a bore
Johnna--BMPR CR '05 Chili Red JustaCVT, JCW Sound Kit #D344, JCW BBK, aFe cai, M7 Under Strut System, strut tower plates, Sparkly wheel arches, a little chrome. Garage-sharing w/ '12 Goodwood MCS #372, '06 MCS "Jack" and MiniX4's classic, Moxie.

Don't it make you feel bad
When you're tryin' to find your way home,
You don't know which way to go?
If you're goin' down South
They go no work to do,
If you don't know about Chicago.

No takers? I really thought this one would be easy - it's from the generation of those of you of a "certain age" (I was born in 1976). Plus it's from a band that was retro-popular with a lot of us from my generation. :D

Oops, newer than 1990? After my generation anyway.............

One for the "oldies" among us in the meantime.........

Sweet sleepy warmth of summer nights
Gazing at the distant lights
In the starry sky

But mine was for the oldies, um, those of you of a certain age I mean. I tried to pick something well before 1990 so someone might know it. Leave it to a young 'un, though, because Esmter is right - mine was Led Zeppelin. It's "When the Levee Breaks". I am a huge Led Zep (and the Doors and Pink Floyd) fan. It was weird how popular they were with my high school class. We even picked "Ramble On" as our class song my senior year.

Yup, I think of you as a young 'un - at least around here we seem to be of that younger generation. I got payback though - I'm listening to Green Day's Dookie at work right now and my 23 yo assistant just helpfully informed me that he was in 4th grade when that came out. I graduated HS and started college in '94. Ouch! :? :D

A few more lyrics then, to warm up the old brain cells..........

Trees swayin' in the summer breeze
Showin' off their silver leaves
As we walked by

Soft kisses on a summer's day
Laughing all our cares away
Just you and I

Sweet sleepy warmth of summer nights
Gazing at the distant lights
In the starry sky

One of the most fun parts of that video is the technology shown. There are some of our members here who won't have ever used one of those and may not even know what it is or how it works! 8)

Another cool thing, I'm finding all sorts of video of old rock star's or group's performances - stuff I never saw before! Let's hear it for the internet!

Anybody remember Joanie Somers, the "Pepsi girl"?

She had a fantastic voice (at least I thought so), she also had a pretty famous song out about the same time as her commecial apperances on behalf of Pepsi, here's lyric from it so you can NTT!

Every time you danced with me
You let Freddy cut in constantly
When he'd ask, you'd never speak
Must you always be so meek?

Oh, BTW, this song is also famous for being the only hit pop song that had a Kazoo section in the middle!

I'll bet you give yourself a forehead dope slap when you hear it........

From the era when you could understand the lyrics

Joanie Somers

Watch for the kazoos!

(Oops, I just realized, there may only be a few people on this board who know what a Kazoo is! No, it's not a pot pipe! )

Come on Dave, I think most people know what a kazoo is. Even little kids! You gotta give us young ones some credit. Plus, you aren't as old as you make yourself out to be!

So, YOU remember it now too?

Actually what brought her to mind was a Pepsi commercial, that triggered the song. She has a distinctive voice...........

Here's the commercial.............

Where's the Davester these days, these are right up his generation too.
