Hmmm, nobody's getting a clue on this Richard Dreyfuss comedy?

More clues then..................this part is what started it, it was all downhill from here!

Bill Babowsky: Are you a Lunatic? Are you tellin' me that you didn't see me comin' out of this lot? There's a red light there for cryin' out loud! You're supposed to stop!

The movie was Tin Men, a story set in 50's Baltimore featuring a bunch of guys trying to sell aluminum siding. There are several sub plots to the ongoing rivalry between Danny Devito and Richard Dreyfuss, including government investigations of the industry, Dreyfuss stealing Devito's wife to get back at him for hitting his new Caddy and the increased sitings of VW's in comparison to the Cadillacs all the tin men drove.......I highly recommend it!

As I recall, the girl (the wife?) worked for the Social Security Administration. I also worked for SSA at the time, and the set for her office was perfect! They even included the bile green WWII surplus desks we were using at the time. :)

Did you lose weight?

Actually, I have been trying this new fat free diet I invented. All I've had to eat for the past six days are gummy bears, jelly beans, and candy corns.

God, I wish I had your discipline.

I could easily stick to this diet!

I actually liked this movie, and since it was my 40th HS reunion this past summer, I watched it again then........

Romy and Michelle's HS Reunion

Trivia question, what did they drive to their reunion?

You are of course correct Dave.

I can't remember how they arrived at the reunion. Was it by helicompter?

Here is a new one for you.

No one's gotten this one yet? Here's another quote from the same 1994 movie.

You were correct, of course. That has got to be one of my all time favorite movies. If I am flipping channels and see it, I will always stop and watch at least a few minutes of it.

I have no clue as to your new one though.

Tom Arnold, in just about the best role I've seen him in, it's like he was born to play this hapless side-kick role, but yet he did it smart too.

The line is from True Lies - a pretty good flick, tho some parts of it really strain your ability to "suspend belief"........

Fritz Lang's Metropolis

If you haven't seen it, you need to see the version from the eighties with the Giorgio Moroder soundtrack. Great stuff!!

How about:

"I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life, anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die."

Where did you see it in the theatre? And is it still there?

Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I've never seen it on the big screen, being not quite old enough to have seen it the first time around.

Tip: Don't be put off by the people who hated the voice-over and see the original US version if you can. The line above was from the voice-over and was subsequently omitted. Lots of great movies and particularly film noir used voice overs.

What he said......

We saw it at the Palazzo, on 135th and Antioch, best theatre in the city. New, comfortable seats, wide aisles, no waiting to buy tickets and no concession lines! I don't know how they stay in business........

Just checked, not there any more.............sorry. :(

Also did a search, doesn't seem to be anywhere in the KC area anymore.......

Here's one that was widely panned when it came out, but I thought it had some redeeming virtues..........

Enola: You're not so tough, you know that? How many people have you killed? Ten? Twenty?
M: You talk a lot.
Enola: I talk a lot because you don't talk at all. Now, how many?
M: Including little girls?
Enola: I'm not afraid of you. I told Helen you wouldn't be so ugly if you cut your hair.
M: In fact, you talk all the time. It's like a storm when you're around!

No guesses?

Let me say that it was widely considered a flop for it's famous director and star, even tho it had a pretty renowned cast...........
