I am all for meeting up before and since there several of us from up north, maybe we could meet up and head down together as a 3 MINI convoy. Just let me know what you think. (Saturn & tennisguy, you are welcome to join us, but it would be way out of your way)
Here is a list of the volunteers I have for the 1-3 pm time slot on the 6th.
Davester (David & Charlotte)
Blugoose (Frank)
Saturn (Kevin & John)
tennisguy (Jack & Carol)
Marlow Main (me)
Just A Passenger (Scott)
I am waiting to hear back from MINIGeoff to see if they are in for this date or the 20th. Either way, we have a great turn out for the first round, Thank You all for volunteering!!
Some things to remember for this event, we will be working in a warehouse, so please wear comfy clothes and shoes (no flip flops, strappy shoes, high heels, ect). Dressing in layers is suggested.
Donations to the food bank are way down this year, so if you can spare a can good or two that would be great!! Items that are in the highest demand include canned meat, fruits, vegetables, peanut butter and Mac & Cheese.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if I forgot something.
Thanks again!!!

We will be volunteering at Harvesters at 3801 Topping, KCMO 64129.
(not 3801 N Topping, KCMO) This is south of I-70.
I am not sure if anyone would like to meet up before and motor in together. Pat & I will be heading straight from Parkville's Paws in the Park.
Here is a list of the volunteers I have for the 1-3 pm time slot on the 20th
Laurie and Larry
Paul, Hayden, & Libby
Pat
Scott & myself
Speed Racer & husband
MiniGeoff (& family) ?

Harvesters also accepts monetary donations. (Harvesters can feed 500 people with a $100.00). Some companies have matching gift programs, so that might be worth checking in to.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Stopping in at Aldi's on the way to Harvesters is a great way to load up on a lot of donation food. You can get a case of Peanut Butter for like $30. Crackers, soup, canned veg, and all sorts of other staples are just a bit cheaper there, so you can get more donation for the dollar. Also, dont forget they can also use cleaning supplies and paper products. They dont like glass though.
Myself, Hayden, and Libbey are still in for Sat

Don't forget me! I was the first to sign up! Seriously, though, I will be there and I will probably have my husband with me. See you Saturday!Marlow Main wrote:Here is a list of the volunteers I have for the 1-3 pm time slot on the 20th

Here are a few pictures from the 6th. ( Thanks for the reminder Frank)
Since it was so overcast that day, all my pictures from inside the warehouse
were terrible, so I only have our cars.

I think Jack and David took some pictures also, maybe theirs turned out better.

No worries.... Harvesters allows kids 6-8 yrs to volunteer in the warehouse as long as there is 1 adult for every 3 kids. We are good!!! See ya all tomorrow!!speed_racer wrote:Does anyone know if kids are allowed to help? We are emergency babysitters for an 8 yo tomorrow. If we can bring him, we'd like too, otherwise one of us may have to stay home. (And the hubby specifically took the day off to go with me!) For what it's worth, he can help sort - he's a good kid.

I received my MINI Motoring Hearts badge today. Or as I like to call it, my MINI ninja star. This thing could do some damage!
