Mushrooming struts?
Mushrooming struts?
I have a 2010 Clubman S, and like most new Mini owners have been drooling over all of the aftermarket products available. However, I also read that "if you own a Mini, you're going to have mushrooming". YIKES. Does my 2010 need the strut plates that they sell, or has Mini Cooper solved the problem on the newer ones? Thanks
Re: Mushrooming struts?
No, 1st gen cars only have this problem.....and not all of them. Mostly it seemed to plague those with lowered cars or cars that had supsension changes like stiffer springs and shocks coupled with very low profile wheels and tires.
You have to be careful about what you read on the interwebs, remember that only a very small per centage of the cars sold are represented there. That and people don't post about their cars that don't have problems, consequently it can appear that it affects "everyone", when in reality it only affects a tiny tiny per centage .....

Thanks a million! I couldn't imagine they'd miss something that significant. I appreciate your knowledge.
