I told Carole that since we are working on her car, she needed to provide the treats. So she is making homemade cinnamon rolls for the gang. I'll pull them out of the oven right before I head out.
Michael....drop some off at my house on the way would you? I'm an early riser! :D

Clint, I should have been more specific, the one closer to the window or the one closer to the stairs/bathroom?

If there are not going to be any brake pad/rotor replacements, then I can't lend in with my new experience!

I may limit my involvement to popping in to see the crankshaft seal on LaDonna. Any guess what time that might come up? 10 am ish?

Done.

Eric, pop in anytime you like.

There's a new Johnny's Tavern just opened at 95th and Antioch (right down the street) I thought that might do nicely for lunch and warmup duties?

So, any spectators who might not want to just hang out in a cold garage can come a little later and join us for fun, frolics and lunch! :D

I'm sorry guys but I am going to have to miss the garage day. We just had a death in the family and the we will be busy this weekend with all the arrangements. Stay warm. I'll look forward to putting on that hitch with the next one.

Just saw Clint's photos on Facebook. Dang, sorry I missed it! I would have loved to seen an R53 in 'service mode'.

We went WAY past service mode on Clints's car!

Minicoopers43's car got new supercharger oil (which is the nastiest smelling stuff!), new water pump, new pan gasket, new crank sensor o-ring, new oil pan gasket, new right side and bottom motor mounts, new dipstick, oil change, coolant change, 16% pulley and tensioner stay........................whew! That was a lot of work for one day! I was very impressed with how clean the inside of his oil pan was for a car with 170K on it - it was spotless! Likewise the supercharger seems like it might go another 170K too, the oil we drained out seemed clean andd like it was still pretty much full up - well, maybe a little low on the water pump side. He still needs tire rotation and brake fluid change, but it got late and we all got tired.....

Imabyter's car got a pulley kit installed, as did Ultra-quick......

We had lunch at the new Johnny's Tavern (next time DAvester says we're going to Hooters!) and got a chance to sit and chat while we warmed up. The garage wasn't too cold once the heaters got going and everyone got busy working, it was fine till later in the day when we stated running cars in and out and had to open the doors for ventilation and exchange.

Everybody had a great day and learned a lot, we got a lot done and at the end of the day, all the cars started and ran - I'd call that a successful day!

Well done, everybody, and thanks to all who came and helped or even just kibbizted!

Thanks to....

Awesome day at Mini Dave's! Chris and I got pulleys installed despite ourselves, and much thanks to Dave for expertise, and always the right tool for the moment. Thanks to all. Our cooper s is now an ss! I wish I'd taken more pictures, but was pretty filthy most of the day. I'll pull the couple from my phone and post later.

I feel beat up, time for a Kamakazi :D

WOW! I can't believe we got done as much as we did!
Huge thanks to Boxer, MiniDave, and Dimini (the librarian  ).

Topped off the coolant and bled the air out when I got home with no problems!

The Drive home was great, It's a totally different MINI!

The Pulley makes more available torque where it's really needed and sounds great, now all I need is an intake!
The motor mounts make the engine connected to the car which makes clutch work much easier, down shifting is smooth as butter, and I think handling has improved a touch as well.
There is a little bit more vibration and noise in the cabin but my rear seats were also down so it was hard to tell what was what and i'm sure it'll settle down in a few hundred miles. Even as it is I enjoy the little extra noise of the engine and it's nothing that's going to shake any fillings out for sure.

The Dude has bad taste in shoes, seriously! But he knows a good cinnamon roll--and there were plenty on hand. Some folks attend these garage days to accomplish something practical, like getting new brakes installed--but for the weird footed-one, he's just in it for the snack treats.

Clint and Carl earn the award (there should be an award, at least) for doing mission impossible in one day and getting the minicoopers43machine back on the road. Nothing subtle about that DIY.

Carole was both upset and pleased that there were leftover cinnamon rolls. She thought we must not have liked them, but then leftovers means good eats!
