...it is really simple.... Each year my home town of Parkville, hosts a 4th of July parade with all sorts of cool cars, fire trucks, motorcycles, kids on bikes, boys scouts/girls scouts, dogs, ect. (For the last 5 years our little cars have been wowing the crowds  ). Top speed for this event is about 3 mph. Feel free to decorate your MINI/Mini for the occasion if you would like. There is usually a theme for the parade, if you would like to decorate your car accordingly. I will have more of that type of information closer to the 4th. This is a very family friendly event and a lot of fun. The crowds are rather large if the weather is nice.

There are a couple are a couple of rules that is strictly enforced.

1. No Candy throwing
2. You must not get out of your vehicle while the parade is in progress (fans are not allowed to run up to the cars either)

The parade begins at 10:00 am (ish) and we meet up at 63rd Street and Hwy 9 (the street behind The shopping complex where Price Chopper is located) and ends in Historic Downtown Parkville. Please plan on getting to the staging area by 9:00 am.

Some other 4th of July activities include:

Pancake breakfast 7:00 am - 11:00 am at the American Legion
Parade 10:00 am
Carnival and vendors: 10:00 am – 10:00 pm
The Parkville Symphonic Band performance (Graham Tyler Chapel on the Park University ) 7:30 pm
Fireworks over the Missouri River: 9:45 pm

I will post more information as I get it.

It is offical... we are registered for the parade. The theme for this years parade is American Heros, so feel free to decorate or dress your MINI up.
:indi: :elec: :ds: :brg: :ps: :black: :chili:
The line up starts at 9:00 am-ish at 63rd Street and Hwy 9.
You might want to bring some bottled water, sun block and your detail kit ;-)

Remember you can not throw candy, or get out of your car once the parade starts moving.

See ya on the 4th.

Is this still open for anyone to participate, or is it limited to those who were signed up prior to registration. If it is still open, we may be interested.

It is still open to any that would like to participate. I just need a rough count of MINIs, so feel free to attend.

The kid in me agrees 1000%... but I guess you have to error on the side of caution, even if it means no candy :(

Re. candy throwing, I have been in parades that allowed candy throwing and it is scary as hell seeing kids run into the street, in front of your car even, to get to it. Kids will be kids and sometimes, even, adults will be kids as well. Fortunately, the parade has banned candy throwing as well.

Believe me, it is the right decision.

Would a race car driver be an American Hero? I was thinking of reattaching my racing numbers and stuff and driving in the parade in my helmet. Just a thought. Might be really dorky but why not.
