Tour the Armacost Museum, Saturday, June 25th
Many of you joined us last September when my club hosted a tour of the Armacost Museum in Grandview, MO. For the majority this was their first ever visit to “The Armacost” and you were amazed at the quality assortment in the collection. If you missed that event, you’re getting another opportunity.
My friends at the Heartland Miata Club will be hosting a tour on Saturday, June 25th from 1-3 p.m. The Armacost Museum is located at 4200 East 135th in Grandview, MO.
If you’re familiar with the Armacost Museum you know what a treat this is. The Museum is not open to the general public and is available only on an appointment basis. The Museum houses what is possibly the largest private collection of cars and motorcycles in Kansas City. The collection includes everything from Ferraris to Corvettes to Rolls Royces to antique motorcycles. No matter your taste in cars you’ll undoubtedly find your favorite there. If this is your first visit you’ll definitely want to bring a camera.
There is a $5 per person admission with 100% of the money going to local charity. Over the times I’ve gone I’ve never heard anyone say they didn’t get their moneys worth. Please have exact change.
PLEASE NOTE: Since my September 2011 event the Armacost Museum has implemented a minimum age requirement of 16 years of age. Please, 16 and older only.
Directions: Armacost Museum, 4200 East 135th, Grandview, MO.
*Exit US 71 Highway on Main Street, Grandview, MO.
Go West on Main Street.
Turn left (south) on 5th Street. 5th Street ends at 135th Street.
Turn right on 135th.
The museum is where 135th intersects Botts Road.

NOTE: The Google map is incorrect!
There are not any signs identifying the building as the Armacost Museum. Deborah will have some Miata posted at the entrance to help you find your way.
Shortly after the tour there will be gathering at a local restaurant for socializing, eating and refreshments. (RSVP to Deb by June 1st.) Feel free to join in. You will be responsible for your own tab.
For further information please contact Deborah Hopkins of the Heartland Miata Club. Please direct all inquiries directly to Deborah.

Thanks for sharing, Dan!
That is the day before the Art of the Car Concours -- looks to be a great classic car weekend.
Last year we had a lunch meet-up beforehand -- let's pencil in a similar meeting this year.

This is one of the coolest places I've ever been, and right here in town! Don't miss out! I posted some photos here: https://picasaweb.google.com/clarkbishton/Armacost#
This one https://picasaweb.google.com/clarkbisht ... 0462492210 is my favorite as it has a barely visible reflection in it.
I am going to try to gather a few out of towners for this one. This place is too good to miss!

Re: Tour the Armacost Museum, Saturday, June 25th
If it is like last time, I don't think they need a count of attendees. Just show up, pay your $5 and enjoy the museum.
I'd suggest having a MINI lunch somewhere beforehand. Waiting until 3pm to head off to a meal doesn't work for my stomach.
Anyone up for a lunch before the tour? Maybe meet at 11:30am somewhere nearby?

New to the group but would LOVE to bring 4 to the museum. Can we still RSVP?
Re: Tour the Armacost Museum, Saturday, June 25th
Add one Mini and two people. Just in case someone needs to know. Thanks

I'm with ya on the lunch.
Re: Tour the Armacost Museum, Saturday, June 25th
As Greg mentions...no need to RSVP. Just show up with $5 and have at it. Reminder: There is a minimum age of 16 to get in.
I suggest you arrive as close to 1 pm as you can. There is a lot to see and photograph in 2 hours.
P.S. As you're leaving if you feel you got more than $5 worth of enjoyment it's OK to put more money in the box. All donations go to local charities.

Thank you! I look forward to meeting you and seeing your gold Mini!
Re: Tour the Armacost Museum, Saturday, June 25th
what, where, what for lunch meet beforehand???
Re: Tour the Armacost Museum, Saturday, June 25th
I just threw it out there as an idea/suggestion. I might have another commitment now that would prevent me from joining a lunch meet-up.getsalot wrote:what, where, what for lunch meet beforehand???
If someone has an idea of where to meet for lunch -- go for it! Just pick a place and a time and let us all know.

Re: Tour the Armacost Museum, Saturday, June 25th
I think that my wife and I will try to attend the Armacost on Saturday. I would like to eat before the tour. We are also planning to go to the ball game at the Legends so eating at 11:30 or so for lunch sounds good. I have no idea where to eat in Grandwiew, MO though. Maybe a Google search is in order for a great Diner?

Re: Tour the Armacost Museum, Saturday, June 25th
I plan on attending the Armacost Museum but was planning on heading over to Martin City afterwards for Tropical Snow. Talked to one of the owners and they would love to have us. Theres lots of parking in front and a parking lot next to it where we could line up. Also, there's Jess and Jim's Steakhouse in Martin's City that has EXCELLENT hamburgers if anyone is interested. If your familiar with the area Martin City is right down the road from Grandview. Also there's Jacks Stack BBQ.
Re: Tour the Armacost Museum, Saturday, June 25th
Remember RC's in Martin City! Some of the best chicken, pork chops, etc. anywhere!
