Re: Project OVRKLL
Well the Dyno run got postponed since my brake install went pear-shaped. Once again the worn part fairy visited me. I was sent Wilwood calipers for a 1" rotor not for the narrower .82" rotor that I had. This led to a huge and offset gap between the front pads. Since the part numbers etched...

Bah, today's washout has pooched my schedule and I won't be able to get to the cruise-in. Have some custard for me.

Re: Plasti-Dip
I plasti-dipped my belt line and door handles when I first got the car. The belt line held up well. I only had issues when I had some wax remover land on it... ate right through the plasti-dip. The door handles didn't last long. The friction of my hand over 3 months was enough to wear through the di...

MC Racing. Used theirs last fall with the RWM tune. Easy in/out access and it's in ground. I've dyno'd at Modified by Kc and RevLine too. I hear there's a place out in Lee Summit now with a dyno.

Re: Project OVRKLL
Blowing the dust off the build thread. After the first autoX I had a PVC/Boost leak that was holding me back to 12psi. Some hose clamps, a BSH boost tap and RVT everything seem good now. Saw 18.2 psi on a highway pull over the weekend. Per Battle/DNA that about what I should expect for the temp Stag...

I'll be there. I may pop over to Brobecks (one of my favorite BBQ places) first then Freddy's for desert.

Re: R56S EGT Concern
Looked at my old AP Stage 1 logs and it showed 1400 range for EGTs at WOT. I think if you are running a high power tune against 91-93 octane then 1400-1550 is normal. I'll be curious to see if this changes when it's 100 out.

Re: autocross 4/6/14
Top 3 times were by a Mini. I was able to win my class despite a boost leak. Did find the source of it too, so a very productive weekend. Loving the new OS Giken LSD. I kept forgetting to press the gas more.

Good to meet you in person nine5raptor. I apologize for not talking more with you, but after the nearly 3 hours of standing out on course I was wiped. We are running again this Sunday.

Re: R56S EGT Concern
I saw 1560 at 13psi while autocrossing Sunday and this is from a standalone EGT pre-turbo. One thing to remember is that direct injection engines run hotter. 221 is the normal coolant range, 220-260 for oil... also these temps are peak during boost. My EGTs are right back down to 900-1100 at idle af...

Re: Project OVRKLL
Cruising around the last few days my EGTs have been 900 at idles up to 1500 under 15psi boost.
Now I counter with what kind of oil temps are typical for a Mini R56? I'm seeing 190-240 range from idle to hard pulls.

Re: Project OVRKLL
Well my luck continues. The Lithionics batter wasn't the right size. They forgot to cut it down so it was nearly over 1" too tall. Couldn't even closet the hood! Good news the gauges and sensors are installed and working so now I can gather data and get the car on the dyno. DNA won't do the Sta...

JD Power and Consumer Reports are as bad as the "Who's Who" lists that go around for high school and college kids.

Re: Project OVRKLL
Nice data dump there! I need to find an OBDII reader that can see WGDC like the AP did. Might have to spend time with the BravTech tool as it seems to dig deeper into the ECU than anything else. Today we installed the Alta DV and closed the waste gate a bit more and it's now building boost nearly to...

Re: Project OVRKLL
Spent some more time with the stock tune and several maps (various stage 2 and 3 canned tunes) from other tuners. Regardless of the map it builds boost quickly from 2000rpm up to 4200 and holds a solid 14-16psi(17 once) until I shift gears or hit redline. For comparison the JCW turbo would have been...

Re: Project OVRKLL
John, How do you like the BSH engine mount? Is that just the lower mount? I ordered the NM Eng inserts to try out. I have the BMS clutch stop and I like the throw, but the engagement is still too ambiguous. Hopefully the inserts or something like the BSH mount can improve the feel. Frankly the BSH ...

That's due to European pedestrian crash requirements. They keep requiring more crumple area and taller bonnets. It's only a matter of time before there are external airbags on the front.Hagar46 wrote:So much longer and uglier nose. Getting further and further away from the classic Mini. Dislike!

Re: Wheel Bearing
Does the sound increase/decrease when driving around corners? Do a wide U-turn to the drivers side, then repeat the other way. If you get the sound only when turing towards the drivers side (or it is noticeably louder), it probably is the bearing.

Re: Project OVRKLL
Spent the weekend sick, so the car didn't get much attention. Received my PowerGate tuner from Battle/DNA tuning. They are providing me a stage 3 tune with a custom stage 4 to come later after some dyno time. Decided not to use the oil plug tap for installing my oil temp sender. Just don't like the ...

Re: Project OVRKLL
I think we've got a handle on the turbo with the stock tune now. It's behaving itself even under aggressive and hard driving. Going to run the stock tune for awhile as I finish up doing the new dual oil catch can, NM Engineering intake, and sensor installs. Also have to reinstall my harnesses after ...

Re: Project OVRKLL
Since I've received no response from DynoComp since Tuesday, I took the car to Baron to get the ECU flashed back to stock. Needing to close the waste gate to 95% to build 15psi is BS. On NAM there are 2 other's running the same turbo with no modifications to waste gate. One was stock other had a DNA...

Re: Project OVRKLL
Making small progress now. Working with the turbo maker and tuner we have started making adjustments to the waste gate and this is allowing for higher boost levels. Interestingly if we don't disconnect the battery for 10mins, the ECU remember's previous high boost levels and won't respect the new wa...

Re: Project OVRKLL
Have yet to do any hard pulls. Chasing a few boost leaks.
Also the sensor install is on hold as I'm not happy with the PLX sender units. May fall back to Innovate for oil pressure/temp as they are self inclosed units.
Hopefully I will have butt dyno and OBDII data later today to share.
