Re: The Blue Meanie has a new owner
Dave, do you know which model of ASA's these are? I can't find them on their website... I'm kinda thinking the first owner put some ASA hub caps on some random wheels just to match the color to the car (they're a very common type of hub cap, same as I have on the Celica which has Eagle Alloys.)

Re: R53s with underdrive?
There's a lot of debate on that Dave, and most people figure it to be closer to 12%.
There are some overdrive crank pulleys available, I was thinking of getting one of those until I found out the JCW pulley is larger (less overdriven, lower % reduction) than some claim.

Re: The Blue Meanie has a new owner
Lightness is part of what I was going for on these, and those Motegis are relatively light for a 17" rim. I don't obsess over it too much. There's an old adage that for every pound of rotating mass you lose, it's like losing four pounds of linear mass. This simply isn't true, the physics depend...

Re: R53s with underdrive?
I'm confused. Why would you want an underdrive pulley? That would negatively affect performance.

Re: The Blue Meanie has a new owner
No, not yet. I've been forgetting to!
I'll keep them, to use either as winter or track wheels. I have a place to store it in the winter so it's not going to get driven much... hmm.

Re: The Blue Meanie has a new owner
Not sure at this point Dave, I want to see what it looks like with some different wheels on it first and I might photochop the black bits on.
I think I've settled on these.

Re: The Blue Meanie has a new owner
I was just in Bethany not an hour ago! Have some friends down there and it's home to the closest Wal-Mart from where I live (among a few other places I shop at.) Haven't seen any MCS's around here, a few Justa's though. The Blue Meanie is looking a little different since Sunday... lost the chrome on...

Blue Meanie has a bunch of chrome bits in random places, like the washer nozzles for instance. Also some on the inside. If I get down to KC to an event, you'll have to check it out. Some of the chrome interior bits are definitely going as well.

Blue Meanie also has the "as much chrome as possible" package. He's even got chrome scratch guards behind the door handles, and chrome caps for the sprayer nozzles on the hood. If you want to get rid of some of that chrome I will gladly take it off your hands. I actually want to...

There are two kinds of errors you can have with speedometers, and depending on the car you may experience one or both of them: Ratio error: when the rate at which the wheels spin is off by a certain percentage. This very common and can be caused by changing differential gearing, different tire sizes...

Not bad. I still maintain that factory Garmin refurbs are a great deal.
The models that are compatible with that dongle don't have MP3 players though.

I actually prefer having the GPS in my peripheral vision up on top of the dash, close to the windshield. Makes it easier and safer to glance at it. The suction cup mount works fine for me.
Thanks for the link though!

Ordered the GX 65 today from these guys . They price match, so I was able to get the detector, a hardwire SmartPlug kit, and an add-a-fuse kit for less than the listed price there, shipped for free! Great folks. Also sent out my application today for "BLUMENI" on these plates, checked the ...

That looks way cool, but it's not compatible with the 765t. :x All of the models that it's compatible with don't have an MP3 player and that's more important to me... Maybe they'll increase the compatibility with firmware updates. nuvi's are Linux based, theres not a whole lot they can't do within h...

The Garmin window mount is actually pretty awesome. So long as both the mount and the windshield are clean, that sucker isn't coming off. I see now that Escort has come out with a similar one for radar detectors, I think I'll buy it as the standard ones are crap! They also include a flat plastic dis...

Not to mention the huge parallax error! Gauges are supposed to be in front of you for a reason. British (or in this case, "British") cars can be odd. I knew this going in, though. The only way to get a gauge in the proper position is to have a built-in GPS....and I don't particularly like ...

I will have to do that, maybe next time I come down for drill I can arrange something. What's his first name? Ordered a GPS for it today, factory refurb Garmin nuvi 765t for $170 (bargain!) Went hunting around online for a new rear wiper blade and found outmotoring.com, seems like a great site. Re: Subwoofer Installation
Looks nice! Is that going to sit on top of the rear seats folded, or are you going to finagle it into the trunk area somehow?
I like the H/K in Blue Meanie quite a bit, a lot like the Bose system that was in the RX-8 but not quite as loud. Then again, the RX-8 had 9" subs in both front doors.

We're a fuel unit. I'm in the maintenance platoon as a welder.
Just got insurance on the Blue Meanie, $60 a month! The RX-8 was $115! Crikey!

My Reserve unit goes there pretty frequently to train, the unit itself is on 78th Street in KCK. We did AT in Ft. Riley last year. This year is Ft. Hunter Liggett in Cali for three weeks in May (oh, joy. )
